I feel like I'm not going to be able to style this striped maxi dress for any season other than summer. Even though I've got at least half a dozen inspiration photos with it being styled under all sorts of layers; infinity scarfs, blazers, even a red wool coat. But to me, the striped maxi is just intrinsic to summer - it's light weight and carefree - so this may be it's last appearance for quite some time.

Um, I am kind of in love with that striped maxi dress of yours. Like I feel like I need to go stalk one right now!
ReplyDeleteLove love love it! Well maybe in the dead of winter you will feel crazy and want to style it with your inspiration pics ;)

Well ya know what, if it has to go out, at least it's going out with a bang. You look fabulous as usual!
ReplyDeleteI too struggle with how one would wear this in cooler months. I could see it working in autumn with a brown leather bomber jacket and orange accessories, but beyond that I'm stumped.
That's a GREAT dress Lyddie! Not sure, but you can knot it up one side, wear opaque tights and add a dark leather bomber jacket as JewishGirlBlog stated above. Never tried it, but just trying to visualize. :)

again, you look like you belong on the balconies of grand hotels sipping red wine.
ReplyDeleteOh I don't know, I'm sure you could make it work for fall, especially since black and white are season neutral! Though I know what you mean, there are definitely pieces of clothing I have that I just don't feel right in any other season.

I don't know, I think this dress looks pretty darn amazing and I will miss it in its absence. I think this is a pretty great transitional look! The dress alone is pretty amazing. You look great!
ReplyDeleteThere is something about it that's pretty summery.
ReplyDeleteMaybe pull it right up into the belt so it's knee length, add a pullover, tights and leg warmers for winter?
I know horizontal stripes aren't supposed to be the most flattering, but for some reason this look makes you look SUPER tall! My stripey dress doesn't do that for me :)
ReplyDeleteBTW I really love that dress! Was it a recent H&M purchase? Or is it one of those things that they probably don't have in stock anymore?
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about maxis not really carrying over into other seasons past summer. I mean I can see how you could style it, but to me, the dress is so summery. Of course, I do like how you've styled it for a late summer day.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else (and you) that there would be ways to bring this into fall. On the other hand, last fall I packed away all my summer/spring stuff into storage (normally I just packed the winter stuff and then tried to layer the dresses/sleeveless tops), and when I brought them out last week it felt like a whole new wardrobe! I think it's no bad thing to save clothes for when you're really going to appreciate them - keeps us shopping addicts from getting sick of stuff too quickly.

You look so tall! I hope you try to bring it into fall because I'm very interested in what you come up with!
ReplyDeletei love the striped maxi. and you do a great job breaking it up with the chambray shirt! sometimes i have a hard time with horizontal stripes, but yours look very flattering! and of course, love your accessories as always!!!

I think you could style it for fall and winter if you were so inclined but it also strikes me as sort of an intrinsically summery piece...

ReplyDeleteLovely outfit and I think I'm going on the search for a stripe dress of my own. Oh and your necklace is still in stores, right? ;)

I can see it with something orange for fall. Kinda jailhouse Halloween-y chic or something. But I think some things should just be worn or used only during certain times so there are good and definite memories of them. You know? Like apple cider. You drink apple cider in the fall. If you drank it in the summer, it would just be weird. Yeah.
ReplyDeleteIt might be too early for me to be forming coherent thoughts.
Oh! I adore your dress and that necklace is fabulous! You look great!

Love the black and white striped maxi! Looking fabulous! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this...anything with stripes is the best!
ReplyDeleteBut your figure looks so good in this dress. Ba-bam, as my fella friend would say.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya. I guess the only way it could work is if you're wearing tights under it and a log sweater dress or tunic belted over it. Hey, I might just try that. ha.
ReplyDeleteYou look fab as always, my dear!

Tracy

Maxis and denim just go together so well! I think your hairstyle compliments your outfit perfectly :-)
ReplyDeleteIf you get bored of all your winter clothes, I think it would look good styled with white and snow all around you :)
ReplyDeleteFeeling is important with clothes. Sometimes I have trouble with wearing woven cotton during the winter... it just feels off.
