This grey dress is one of my favorite pieces to pull out when I don't know what to wear to work. The length, neckline and short sleeves are office appropriate, while the comfy sweatshirt material is unfussy, and the basic grey leaves a blank slate. Most days I opt for a pendant necklace, however one morning I thought I'd give a neck scarf a try and loved the look!
When I styled it again for a little weekend shopping trip to downtown Westport (basically all my favorite stores on one street) I added the hat because it was so cute, and I'd never show up to work in a straw hat.
Because I love the idea of focusing on the remix, here are all the other ways I've styled this grey dress since I got in 2013: with a peach cardigan, with a field jacket and ball cap, with a navy blazer, with a denim jacket, with a different denim jacket, with a black cardigan, with a black leather jacket, and layered over a button down.

This is the perfect dress to be able to mix it up so well, Lydia!!! It's such a perfect basic, that you can wear almost anything with it!!

I have yet to jump on the neck scarf bandwagon, but I admit that you do make it look very tempting! It's a shame wearing hats to work is so impractical, because I love my collection and there seems to be so few opportunities to wear them - but if I ever did wear one to work, my hair would be ruined by the time I got there and since hats indoors aren't really considered okay at the company I work for, I'd have to suffer all day with hat hair. Ah well, at least that's what weekends are for!

I can see why it's a go-to piece given that it's so versatile and you've been able to style it so many ways (and I love the pairing of it with the neck scarf and hat - it feels sort of Parisian to me). Also, I suddenly now miss Westport!

That piece is such a classic that I LOVE how you can "trend" it up with the accessories! Before I even saw Courtney's response about this looking Parisian, I was going to comment that I was getting An American in Paris vibes!

Such a cute look! I love it with the scarf too! Remixing pieces is definitely a necessity, pointless to not rewear things but then you don't want to always wear it the same way

ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of this dress and how you incorporated the accessories to dress it up! Love that fit and flare style, too!

Making dresses feel different in the summer can be really tough. I love the addition of the neck scarf. It's great having dresses that work year round.
