When I finally got home, it was just in time for a massive downpour. I waited a while, hoping it would stop, so I could at least take my outfit shots. Eventually Desmond (the xsi) (yes, my camera is named after my favorite Lost character) and I just decided to get a little wet. I considered rigging (duct taping) an umbrella to the tripod, but I decided it would be too much effort.
At least my new skirt of Jungle Paisley is bright and cheery. It was kind of hard to not get a little matchy when you've got five colors to pull from, so I chose yellow and turquoise.
This turquoise belt is from the thrift store and is insanely long. At 42", I imagine it would fall under the XL sizes. But since it was 50 cents and a great color, I brought it home anyway. I used my favorite little tool to punch some new holes in it.
Here is a totally random picture from 2003 that I took when I first got it to do costume stuff.
Then I was really excited to see my new shoes, the Hive and Honey ruffled pumps from Piperlime had arrived.
I tried them on, and more disappointment. I don't like the way my short stubby toes look in them, they are completely covered by the ruffles!
So they are going back. Sigh. Now which shall I choose...?

Sorry you had a rough day. It was gross and sticky for me too. I had online shoe disappointment yesterday too (these cute Steve Madden shoes were too big and made me look larger footed than usual).
ReplyDeleteBut your outfit is adorable. I love your self made shirt and the colors.
I love the skirt that you made! Did you use a pattern or just wing it?
ReplyDeleteAlso, the fact that you named your camera Desmond made me, for lack of a better term, lol. I should name my least favorite objects Jack and Kate.
sorry your shoes didn't work out, but heres the good news! you can always get another pair ;) happy shopping

ReplyDeletePS) Forever 21 just came out with a pair of clog heels and I thought of you, but they're not brown unfortunately. They'd be mine if the studs weren't gold: http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=whatsnew_all&product_id=2078526825&Page=2&pgcount=100

ReplyDeleteI totally JUST noticed that your bio mentions you being a photographer. THAT's why your photos are always so killer! I wondered how you pulled such pretty shots each week.
Is that the skirt you made? I really like it. I can't believe it never occured to me to buy belts and regrommet them?? I'm clearly far behind here.
Oh no, too bad about the shoes. From the side they looked so cute, but I see what you mean from the top.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with the belt.

I found your blog yesterday when I was image searching a dress, and I must say I love it! [the blog lol]
I also noticed you seem to LOVE TJ Maxx, me too! I work there lol. Every month my store has a raffle for a 20$ TJMaxx gift card and I won this months. So I pretty much got 6 shirts for FREE and still have 5 bucks left over! lol
Hmmmm...is there any way to doctor the shoes....? Love the outfit--wish I could make my own skirts too!
ReplyDeleteohh i love the yellow and turquoise together--so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great skirt! Loving that pattern.
ReplyDeleteThat's the down side of Internet shopping. But love your skirt and accesssories.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore your dress and the yellow scarf is genius with it. And those yellow flats are insanely cute. :)
I hope your week gets better, hon! You deserve it! xo
Yay! Another fan of Lost! I LOVE Desmond. Just his accent itself makes him the most amusing character.
ReplyDeleteI need those belt punchers very badly! What do you call them? I have belts I've practically ruined because I used every sharp object imaginable to punch wholes in them...
Nice ruffles on the shoes and the color of the outfit makes the rain go away!
Very cute! Lovin that belt!
