Aren't I awful? I am a firm believer that leggings are not pants. And the line between what is and is not acceptable is very thin. The top has to have significant length and appropriate amounts of bagginess.
This top might be iffy. But I'm curious to know what you think, so I've created a poll.
I got my new lens! It has a much more substantial feel to it than the 1.8 did, and the photos should be looking crisper. Do they look crisper?
I like to shoot with the lens wide open, and when relying on the auto focus this often results in images not being focused on the spot you would like them to be focused on.
Such as this one, where my shoulder is in focus and not my face. But since my face is always super oily and tired looking at the end of the day, I don't mind being a bit blurry.
In the interest of full disclosure, a photo from the back, proving that there is rear coverage.

So I'll leave this up to the jury to decide if I need to be arrested by the fashion police.
In my defense, I'd like to mention that one of my coworkers complimented the outfit today. And that almost never happens.
I love the sophistication of the outfit! The blazer was a nice touch :)

You look great!:D
ReplyDeleteAs long as your butt is not showing and you're wearing a long/loose top, it's okay to wear leggings as "pants"!:D

I love it, lady. You have the bod to rock it, and I like to think of leggings as like extra tight skinny jeans. You look HOT!

*gasp* SHAME ON YOU! Just kidding :) I think it looks perfectly lovely, the shirt is definitely long enough :)
ReplyDeleteYou look very cute

Im so sorry but i just dont get leggings as trousers, its just wrong! sorry. There are just far too many young teenage girls wandering round with just tops and leggings. They arent meant for that really. I love the top though! Its almost long enough to wear as a dress and then the leggings would be fine.

Love the new lens!
ReplyDeleteIf your butt is covered, leggings are fine. That's my take anyway. Also, these leggings are opaque enough to give you good coverage. You look so sophisticated in this outfit.
ReplyDeleteI think you are all covered. And aren't rules meant to be broken??
ReplyDeleteI wear leggings like that to work. I figure as long as my butt is covered, they're fine!
ReplyDeleteThe new lens seems awesome!!
your shirt is plenty long! and your new lens is great. i love the last picture!
ReplyDeleteI think you look just fine! Your shirt is definitely long enough. :D I think if it covers your boo tay tay and if they're a dark color, you're fine! I love what you did. The blazer especially adds such a nice touch! <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute, classy outfit! You really make the leggings work as office chic here! They look very professional and sophisticated. This is a great work outfit!
ReplyDeleteI like this look! I wouldn't twice about wearing something like this!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I like your pics.. I have been looking into getting another camera lens, I want a 10-20mm lens but right now not willing to pay 700 bucks for one...
How do you get yourself in focus like that when using the self timer? I find it works okay with backdrops like walls etc, but with scenery I have abit more trouble (and may sound like an idiot asking this but I am new to fancy cameras!!)
j
I like this, however I totally understand how you feel about leggings as I feel the same way.
ReplyDeleteI think yout outfit is work appropriate.
Oh my gosh I can't believe someone voted that you don't know how to wear leggins! I think you wore them the right way, noe over exposure, the top looks great and this look is very work-friendly, so don't listen to the jealous, yo rocked it -)
ReplyDeleteTee hee, had to laugh at your breaking the rules title. I too share your belief in the leggings as pants thing. But hey, sometimes good to shake things up a bit eh? Prevents us from getting too complacent in our style choices!
ReplyDeleteBTW I love the lion earrings and the brooch - tres preppie chic!
OH, I wish my work would let me do that! I LOVE that look! :)
ReplyDeleteI think you look very chic. The important parts were covered and you dressed the look up with a blazer. I like it.
ReplyDeleteYour photos look FABULOUS! Like out of magazines. The breaking of your old lens may have been a good thing.
I think this looks great. The whole leggings look can be done tastefully - as you've shown us : )
ReplyDeleteGuess it depends on the leggings and the top : ) and how you put it all together.
Yeah I'm with everyone else - I think there are definitely those that get the whole 'leggings as pants' look totally wrong, but you've styled it perfectly so there's nothing to worry about. I mean, here they're basically just trousers except more comfortable. And flattering. If you were wearing them with a boob tube on the other hand... :-/
ReplyDeleteThat last shot is gorgeous. Seems like the new lens was the right choice.

ReplyDeleteYour rear is covered and you have layered your top with a jacket, so if it meets the dresscode requirements of your office, I say go for it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's fab. You're covered, they're not faded, the rest of the outfit is entirely work appropriate - I think the entire look is great.
ReplyDeletexoxo,

Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous collection of accessories!
ReplyDeleteI've never worn my leggings as pants. Haha, and you are covered so I wouldn't catch you.

Like you, I am usually against wearing leggins as trousers, but I love this outfit! I think the leggins are a good shape and the detailing at the bottom make them look more like trousers.
ReplyDeleteI love the blazer!

Looks like the leggings are pretty substantial and thick, so they are almost like skinny pants, no? At any rate, you look super!
ReplyDeleteYay on the new lens! Good luck with getting your sharp focus :)
thanks for your sweet comment on my blog
ReplyDeletei have the same lens as yours.

Since your crotch is covered, I think you've done well! The outfit really is quite flattering on you.
ReplyDeleteAnd your new lens is awesome - I noticed the photo quality even before reading that you purchased one. Definitely a worthwhile splurge.
(Could you stop taunting me with your incredible jewelry collection?!)
I love the leggings look, as long as you wear a long top with them. They look great on you anyway.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the blazer that makes the outfit look all professional. I actually like your look here because your rear is completely covered and the leggings are substantially thick. :)
ReplyDeleteLove from Toronto, Canada
awesome photography!
ReplyDeletei'm agree on your sentence that leggings are not pants and they should be worn with long top or something,
but hey you look fab! :)

I love the ruffles...Such a sweet post:) hugs
ReplyDeletePs: I am hosting a great GIVEAWAY today :) Hope you will join in :)!!!
I like the look!! I think that the blazer really adds polish to it, for work.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about leggings although I love them so much! Although, occasionally I will wear them to work and hope human resources doesn't say anything *(then never do!).
ReplyDeleteYour bum was covered. That's the most important thing. You look fab!
ReplyDeleteLeggings are so pants! I mean your underwear arent out so you have pants on and the blazer makes is sophisticated. Two thumbs up
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment!
ReplyDeleteI'm also in love with the ruffle top/blouse!
I think that you look great with the leggings on.
Just like Kirstin says: your bum was covered and that's the most important thing ;)

I have been looking at new lenses all week. I am crazy jealous. I am also jealous of your look. I have no beef with leggings as pants, I am just too shy for it. I like my legs to have less revealing coverage... although I wish I didnt. Do you see? I am clearly torn.
ReplyDeletei think it worked really well! you look great! in my opinion, leggings can be used as pants as long as the top is long enough to cover the derriere - exactly how you wore it! :D

I think you look fabulous (as always!) and perfectly covered up. As long as the bum isn't on display, I say it's a go.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd like to add another option to the poll - "forget the leggins/pants; I'm totally jealous of your new lens and want to steal it immediately." I have the 1.8, but the bokeh is so much creamier with the 1.4!
im a HUGE leggings person so i LOVE this outfit.
ReplyDeletei think the leggings make this otherwise dressy outfit very casual chic
I think as long as they cover your bum you're fine! I think you pulled this off quite well!
ReplyDeleteCLOTHED MUCH, a modest fashion blog
cute outfit!! I think the leggings work ;)

I'm a sucker for a blazer over anything. The leggings just pull the sleek look all together.
ReplyDeleteYou look great and I'm loving that last picture, I NEED a decent camera!! xxx
ReplyDeleteI think you look good in those pictures. I think the trick is to wear leggings that are opaque and MATTE. So many leggings are shiny and this is really unflattering; already they cling, so shininess can easily create bumps where there are none.
ReplyDeleteI think that as long as the butt and crotch are covered, they are fine. Though I must say, find that tops that hit just a bit higher than mid-thigh are much more flattering than those that hit right at the upper thigh - except on those with really skinny legs, there it doesn't really make much difference.
