I've started enjoying my new things; this MaxMara blazer is really quite lovely. Though I am thinking the shoulder pads need to go. A bit too strong, right?
Of course I had to cuff the sleeves to show off the bright pink silk lining. Sometimes I will buy an article because I love the lining more than the outside. I'm a big fan of subtle but unique details -- like the difference between a mother of pearl button and a plain white one. It can completely change the garment even if you don't notice at first glance.
This weekend I might undergo the task of switching out my summer clothes for my winter, although it isn't a task I relish. More things need to go up in the blog shop, and there needs to be a sale, because things need to go! Overcrowding is such a problem. Those of you who have whole rooms as dedicated closets: I hate you. My whole room is just becoming a closet because I don't have enough room for all my clothes.
And yet, I still lust for more.
I am completely smitten with these pumps by Luxury Rebel.
I'm not sure if it's the color, the suede, the peep toe, or the price ($33 marked down from $215) -- but I've got it bad for them!

There is nothing worse than having to change over your closet. I always hate doing it, but then when I begin I go through and find all of the awesome clothes I forgot. It's kind of like shopping but not really...
ReplyDeleteI love the pink cuffs! But I can't make up my mind about the shoulder pads... I actually kinda like them even though I'm usually not a fan as a general rule.
ReplyDeleteAaaah I'm so jealous of your MaxMara blazer! They make really really amazing staple pieces. And I love the pink lining! I work at J. Crew, and I'm really missing their old school blazers when they added awesome silk linings, patterned buttons and amazing details: they've cut down on that kind of detail since the economy tanked, and it makes me sad :(
ReplyDeleteBut yay for awesome bargain scores!
And yes, those shoes are pretty luscious. I think its the color that's getting me :)

I love your outfit! And I know what you mean...my closet is EXPLODING, but everything has to stay in there because I share my room :/

Loving those pink cuffs....
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I like details too, even if I am the only one noticing.
That blazer is bygollygoodnessgoshness AMAZING! I love the pink lining, it is absolutely fantastic. :) So very cute you are! I'm loving the pattern on your shirt, too. <3
ReplyDeleteGood luck on transitioning your wardrobe! Thankfully as of now I have just enough space for all my clothes in my closet.. a few more shopping trips, though, and I'm gonna need to do some cleaning oo. :O
GREAT blazer, L. I'm lovin' the pink cuffs. Shoulder pads = yeah, I agree.

ReplyDeleteBack to the blazer...I like it on you and I think the shoulder pads look great! call me crazy, but i like very much!
xoxo,
Carrie
You look great, I think shoulder pads are in and they don't look that big, in fact, I didn't even notice them until I read what you wrote, they don't look like the ugly 80's kind of shoulder pads. Those shoes are great and the price is great! =D
ReplyDeleteI totally understand you on putting up spring/summer clothes I still have the plastic containers in my house, haven't put them away because it's still too nice to wear my fal/winter clothes, so now my house is all messy. Good luck on cleaning out your closet.
I don't know; I kind of like the strong shoulders! I definitely love the pink lining - cute cute cute.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures with you puppy in them!
You look amazing! That pink lining is so fabulous and so is the print (and the ruffle) on the top. I didn't notice the shoulder pads until you pointed them out, either.
ReplyDeleteI actually think the shoulder pads are working here! I love the blazer's pink lining!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving that blazer on you! I have a blazer obsession. The fact that the lining is pink makes the blazer that much more amazing!
ReplyDeletelove tha blazer! I love this look. Its my favorite on you!
ReplyDeleteIs it possible at all that they can be taken on and off? I love the shoulder pads with skinnies but maybe off with dresses and skirts?
ReplyDeleteYou look, as always, chic!

Oh, I don't have a problem with my closet exploding because I'm in a temporary apartment which I had expected to be out of by August at the latest - so all I have are summer things while the rest of my clothes exist in a storage unit ten hours away. When the weather takes a turn out of the eighties and I realize I don't have a proper jacket I'm going to be in pretty bad shape.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous outfit as always! I love the top and the pop of pink in the blazer. (:
L O V E da blazer!

ReplyDeleteI cannot believe that shoulder pads have made a comeback. I thought there were some trends that just would not resurface. Alas...
ReplyDeleteI don't think these are too strong though. From what I can see, they add definition without making you look too broad. Nice balance.
I must say, I do love the skinny pants and heels look. It's just so sexy.

p.s. so I checked the stats on my blog - turns out that the majority of those hits were because I have images of Christina Hendricks on my site. And people googling (or using Bing) Christina Hendricks are at some point being directed to me. 10 and a half thousand of them. Wow. She is ONE popular lady!
I dream of having a walk-in wardrobe or a whole room in which to house my clothes...also I hate having to switch to my Autumn/Winter wardrobe and always put it off until I no longer can! Happily it is sunny in London this weekend so I'm going to have a final wear of something Summery!
ReplyDeleteLove the title of this post! lol.
ReplyDeleteI like the pink cuffs :) Yeah, I have such a tiny closet for someone who has all these clothes... I can fit one small child in it, maybe. That's how small it is. G'luck on switching and selling your clothes!
love the outfit :)

You look so chic! I like that you often smile for the photos; you're so pretty! ;)

Yeah, I think the shoulder pads have to go. I'm the same way - I can't do shoulder pads. I have broad shoulders too. Though I haven't figured out how to take'em out of my blazers yet..
ReplyDeleteCLOTHED MUCH, a modest fashion blog
I forgot to tell you - I love the pink lining!
ReplyDeletethis is such a great outfit, i looove blazers, i've been having a love affair with them since spring! i've managed to wear them all summer too (hurray cool nights). =)
ReplyDeleteI do love to spend other people's money, but you must get those shoes! Since it's suede, it's heavy enough to wear in the fall with tights and the color is not too fall that you'll be unable to wear them in the spring. I say jump on it!

the pink lining is adorable! and the shoes you want are so cute. i think the color is perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, those shoes are super cute! I love the lining of the blazer, that color is so unexpected. Love the skinny jeans and blazer look, it is a go-to for those days at work where a dress or skirt feels like too much effort!!
ReplyDeleteThe jacket and top work well together. I think the proportions look good although I have been guilty of snipping of a few shoulder pads lately!
ReplyDeleteAdore your outfit! The ruffles and the pink lining = gorgeous. I totally understand about not having enough room for your clothes; I'm going through the same dilemma at the moment!

LOVE that blazer!
ReplyDeletegreat investment, you can dress it down like this but youll be able to dress it up too
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way about subtleties. Sometimes it's the lining that makes a nice coat a must-have coat. Same with purses! I quite like the shoulder pads, but maybe yank them out next season, after this whole exaggerated shoulder trend has passed.
ReplyDeletexoxo, Ashley
Love the way you mixed patterns and that pop of color with those fab shoes. xo style, she wrote
ReplyDeleteWow, loving the blazer! That pink lining is such a great detail.
