I've had a cropped bouclé blazer for just as long as I've had this image hanging around my hard drive, and I almost decided to donate it since I haven't worn it in a year. But I'm glad I didn't, because this look surprised me. I felt so long and lean in my wide legged black pants, flowy silk top and little jacket!
While I easily could have been true to the inspiration and worn a pair of low top Chucks, I was feeling like I wanted the three extra inches and the pop of color granted by the turquoise pumps.
I also feel like this outfit is a fabulous representation of what my blog is all about -- can you guess what the most expensive item is that I'm wearing?
The Rundown
Top Premise from Cocos on the Green ($5) - Blazer Kohls ($10) - Pants NY&Co. ($10) - Shoes Thrifted Karen Scott ($3) - Earrings The Cavernous Jewelry Box (Gift) - Bracelet Etsy by Arterhaar ($15)
$43 for this very vogue outfit is not too shabby!
Today I also got my yearly hair cut. Yeah, I know. I tend to look forward to getting a hair cut with the same relish that I do for the dentist (ick, have to go this month!). But this time I found a way that was actually, quite enjoyable.
I had a newly licensed, currently unemployed hairdresser come to my home and cut and style it tonight. It was comfortable, affordable, and enjoyable. Maybe I could even make my hair cuts semi-annual now.
I kept it pretty long this time. But I had her put in lots of layers and angle it. Sometimes I wonder if I should go short.
Sorry for this photo - you know how I hate the combination of on camera flash with my oily face that hasn't been freshened up since 7 am...

Great outfit. I love those trousers and your hair looks fantastic. I just got layers cut into the bottom so it's not so blunt and I love it - It just feels much lighter.
ReplyDeleteYou look great!
a cut and style in your home?? how convenient is that!!!?!
ReplyDeleteFantastic outfit!
ReplyDeleteI am loving this outfit! You are right, it is fresh. And what a great Vogue photo =)
ReplyDeleteLove the new hair!
Your outfit is very elegant, love the turquoise pumps and the jacket especially. Your hair is fantastic, it looks great long - thought it probably would look good short as well. I too dread the hairdresser's; I always seem to leave dissatisfied.

ReplyDeleteCongrats for the feature!! Also, nice haircut! I kind of miss my long hair, but I'm trying to suck it up and appreciate my newly cut hair. I also miss what I don't have anymore anyway---no matter what it is or if it was actually better!
ReplyDeleteCropped tight jackets are great to balance out wide pants or skirts. It's good to keep for when you want to have volume beneath!
The bracelet was the most expensive item? Who would've known?
Yup, cute little white dogs are the best ;-)

ReplyDeleteStunning, stunning outfit ... you have such fabulous hair!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to get my hands on the 'a month of outfits' article ... I like that they're saying using 'basics' hopefully that means you don't need to purchase a gazillion items to recreate the look.
I love foreign magazines as our seasons are opposite and we follow on what you guys have worn the preceeding season.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your outfits :-)
You look fantastic!

Pretty haircut is pretty. I want to sleep in it, looks very soft, yes. :D And this outfit is so super flattering on you, you look so AWESOME. I am loving how you used those wonderful turquoise pumps instead of sneakers! That blazer is way too cool, and it is indeed a good thing you didn't throw it away.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! It's so much fun to go through old magazines. It's so fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd WOAH. I'm awesome? I totally realized you cut your hair? Yes? YES. It looks fantastic. So hair-commercial-y. Which is totally a good thing. WOOOSH.
