Stray lamb

I think to say that I strayed from my budget this month would be an understatement. It was more like reckless abandon. I refuse to be apologetic or regretful. I will try to be better in April, but who knows - my birthday is coming up on the 12th so I will surely use that as an excuse to buy myself presents, and there is this weather - this grey, cold icky weather that leaves me to spend time clicking around ebay and amazon and dreaming about sandals I want to buy for when it will be actually nice out...

I think you need to imagine this outfit without the boots, tights, or cardigan. That's how I imagined it anyway. And it was awesome. Then the weathermen, talking endlessly about this "noreaster" ruined it for me.

Notice the rain drops? Yup, photos in the rain again. Lovely.

I know I've been negligent about updating the budget sidebar to track just how much over my budget I did indeed go this month. Well, it's all up to date now, and the damage is $257. Technically I should subtract $55 because I had a TJMaxx gift card which covered a couple things. And $100 was for the leather Lucky bag. So if you didn't count that then I'd only be like $23 over budget. See how well I rationalize?

  3. LOL I love how you're not apologizing for not sticking to your budget - go girl!

Ugh, the weather here too, I know, it seems to be the same. HOWEVER, no snow is a huge plus (it's ALMOST all melted) so I'll take it!

  5. You are so my kind of woman! I NEVER pay full price (well basically never, on rare occasion I will for something totally "worth" it). I bought $160 worth of Anthropologie clothing yesterday for $32... including the tax. Score!

I think we just might be able to rule the world... just saying!

    Beautiful blog! Great style.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

  8. I think it's my northern Canadian upbringing because this is spring for me - I am seriously deliriously happy with the rainy but slightly warmer weather! I may have to break my budget a bit in celebration....you are so making me want to acquire another leopard print skirt!

  10. budget-schmudget! Sometimes when things are dreary you need something to perk yourself up! I think that even with the additions you didn't imagine this is pretty great! Lots of colour and texture!

  17. Love the rationalization, hate that endless drizzly weather!
I love the skirt with the salmony pink top, though and I think the rust-colored accents work so well! (Even if it's only because you have to wear it because of the weather!)

  20. Oh no, it's ok because you were under budget for a couple of months there in 2010, so it really just evens out. See!

  21. DOn't talk to me about wardrobe budget ! I have been bad too.
I really like how that cardi and the top go together - the colors are just unexpected and they work :)

  24. I think it's fine to splurge a little every once and a while, so don't feel bad about it! If it makes you feel any better, I decided I needed a back up second pair of heeled jodhpurs so... I went and put a semi-exxy pair on layby. Oops! And it totally wasn't in the budget... oh well, what can you do right?

    Looking cute dear x

  28. I am totally imagining your outfit w/o the winter accessories. You look fab by they way.
I can so relate on the budget crisis. Went to the grand opening of Nordstrom Rack yesterday and you would have thought I had never stepped foot in a store before LOL

  29. I love the colors here -- your photos are also looking amazing lately. Happy soon to be birthday! My husband's is tomorrow and I'm a little bummed that it's so crappy out here, since last year we went to a Richmond flower garden. Oh well, they locals assure me that spring is coming....

  30. Some months it's just easier to go over budget than others. Although, to be honest, I have more months that I go over than I don't, but I'm not a good role model for anyone.

Sorry about the rain - it's actually NOT raining in Oregon right now and I don't even know what to do with myself! You still look fabulous though - rain or no.

I think the pictures of kittens sounds great too.

  34. Retail therapy, seriously. I think everyone just goes shopping because we don't know what else to do in this weather. Sometimes I definitely get out of control.
Please wear this again when the weather's warmer, all I want for spring is some nice salmony pink like your shirt (and some really obnoxious fuchsia). And with sandals too!
