I always laugh at that one.
Sure, I consider it a compliment - I mean - I'm 5'2" and curvy, which does not at all fit the profile of model; even when America's Next Top Model did the "short" girl cycle the shortest one was 5'3" and the winner was 5'7". Ahh, to tower above the world at 5'7", wouldn't that be nice? Even with these heels on I'm still only 5'6"!
Still, people just don't know what to think about a girl, a tripod and a camera, so maybe I'm some poor model, forced to do fashion shoots without a photographer...
Oh - good news, my striped tank dress from Urban Outfitters shipped today, the
Part of me is rationalizing that it's only $2.50 and not to get all pissy about it, but the other part of me is saying that I already spent $10 on shipping an there is no way that $10 couldn't cover two packages, weighing less than a pound to be shipped to me.
Also, they should have told me upfront that there would be additional shipping charges. It's not my fault the dress was back ordered! A ten dollar flat rate shipping should mean just that -- not more if they happen to mess up their warehouse inventory.

Your gorgeous! I love that top and that blue handbag. I agree that they should not have charged you again. I'm hateful though and would have probably gotten pissy about it LOL. Hope your having a fab evening!
ReplyDeleteI love your style and I have never realized that you were 5'2. I am not much taller and I amazed that you find skirts that are above your knees. Do you do a lot of altering of your clothes?
ReplyDeleteYay for us "shorties"! I'm only 5'0... what I'd give to just be 5'4!! I'm glad to hear your dress finally shipped! But I HATE when things are backordered...like I can't even handle waiting for a regular order to come in (I obsessively track the packages online). Making you pay an additional 2.50 is just plain out rude!
ReplyDeleteLidi @ Eclectic Flair
My neighbors ask me about the picture taking occasionally. It is awkward to try to explain a style blog to people.
ReplyDeleteOh that would be nice, being mistaken for a model! Is that another stormy sea necklace too? I'm so tempted to buy one. And I would totally call or email UO customer service and ask if they'll waive the extra $2.50. Maybe they will!
ReplyDeleteYou have guts to do this in public! I just cannot. Cannot, cannot, cannot. It's not that I'll be embarrassed...it's only of one thing. For creepy men to check me out. Not that I dress provocatively...some men will just eat you with their eyes even if you're barely showing any leg or cleavage. *sigh* Or maybe I'm just paranoid. haha Anyways, darn you, UO! I seriously think they over-do it just a little on the shipping costs. I bet it's to cover their logo-printed packaging, but oh well. A lot of UO's stuff on regular price are too much for my checking account, anyways.
ReplyDeleteforte-espressivo.blogspot.com
How annoying are those shipping charges?!? The dress will be worth it, I'm sure though!
ReplyDeleteI always run into that too and I laugh. Actually, I get more of "can I help you take your pictures?" but by that time I am always magically done. ;-)
I love the bright top! And a denim mini is just so all American!
I seriously thought you were at least 5'6", you always look like you have beautiful legs that go on for miles! Nonetheless, 5'2" is a great height (ahem I may know of someone else that may that same height). And you totally rock those colors, the top is like beautiful watercolors.

They should definitely not have charged you that extra $2.50! You should complain - although complaining might not be worth it if it's only for $2.50 :)
ReplyDeleteDon't you love it when people ask if you're a model?!
loving all the bright colors! ♥
ReplyDeleteThat top is simply gorgeous, the print is stunning.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, no wonder you have such great shots :)
Hopefully the forecast is wrong & there's no rain!!
xo
You look super cool in this outfit. Love the aviators, cool necklace and print on your blouse.
ReplyDeleteUrban is crazy for adding extra money the inventory is their problem.
ps. Us short girls can be models to..he he!!
Fashion bloggers are models in their own right :). I love this outfit, especially the top.

CARMEN VOGUE
I can see why they would ask...You are incredibly photogenic!
ReplyDeleteI'd be totally pissy about the $2.50 too. As if they need more money. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side you look terrific. That first pic is faboosh. Let em stare!
xo,
C
You know, I never would have thought you were my height! See... stay away from yard sticks and fool the world!! Also, that top is really gorgeous. I feel like it will work just as perfectly in the fall too because of the deeper tones of the colors.
ReplyDeleteAlso, UO shipping is ridiculously over-priced. They really need to fix their system. Like you said, it's only a small amount of money extra, but how can they advertise flat rate when those types of fees will apply?! Geesh.
xx Melina
Love the top and your sandals!

Hey I know all about the weird glances when taking outfit pictures, I've had a fair few strange comments!
ReplyDeleteLove this look especially the top, perfect for summer.

You should totally tell them. It's only a few dollars but the last time that happened I emailed and got my money back!!
ReplyDeleteNice outfit! Liking the colours!

that top is amazing :)
ReplyDeletehttp://chocolatefashioncoffee.blogspot.com/
Ooh, I need a paint-splashed blouse too!
ReplyDeleteNo wonder they think you're a model! Many people would think most bloggers are too dressed up for a normal day - looking lovely must mean you're a model dressed by a stylist. In a way it's true... :)
aahhhh, the joys on online shopping! i love the convenience but it can be a pain. i feel for you but i think that dress will be worth it. You'll just have to wear it one extra time to decrease the cost per wear :)
ReplyDeleteYou are beautiful here - I love the print on your blouse. And I would never have guessed you are only 5'2" - your legs look miles long.
Beautiful top and YES you could be a model!!
ReplyDeleteHa, I love it!
ReplyDeleteYou are brave to be snapping away with a tripod in front of so many people! I usually try to do it in some secluded place (of course, there is always that ONE person that walks by). Loving that top!

I'm the exact same height as you...we short girls need to work it :) I'm loving this top, and the shoes and bracelets work perfectly with it!
ReplyDeleteMix and Match Fashion
I absolutely love this outfit! The top paired with the denim skirt and all the colors is pure perfection! That bag is pretty awesome too :)
ReplyDeleteHeather
haha, fashion blogging still feels like an underground thing to me. Not a lot of people know it actually is a sort of world/subculture, with a lot of people doing it and even more people reading the blogs. You get used to the stares after a while ^^ I really love this top! The bright colors are perfect for summer! x
ReplyDeleteAh I always feel awkward when people ask why I'm taking pictures. Haven't had anyone ask if I am a model though. Congrats to you!
ReplyDeleteBoo on Urban for charging you extra shipping. They definitely stick it to you with extra charges. But their clothes are so stinking cute. Especially that dress you ordered. I can't tell you how badly you tempted me when you posted that yesterday! I am hoping it is still around next month so I can fit it into my budget.
What a sweet top! If anybody asks what I'm up to when I'm taking self portraits I tell them I'm a 'student' working on a 'project'. Almost true, right?
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! I have yet to have people ask me that question since I take my pictures inside or on my deck...but maybe now that I'm near the beach I'll take my tripod there, haha
ReplyDeletewoohoo for the dress shipping, but poo for the $2.50 :(

I think they're screwing you on that shipping charge...it may not be worth complaining about but they're definitely cheating you. And I think that, as a blogger, you're pretty much a part time model anyways, so run with it!

They ask b/c you look like a model!!! I had no clue you did that yourself w a tripod! That's awesome! LOVE the colored bracelets!!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit - the colors are amazing!! And in a way - you sort of are a model for your blog and I think that is why blogs are so popular!! Bloggers are real people that come in all differnet shapes and sizes which other real people are interested in seeing!!
ReplyDeletexox,
karen
I had no idea you are only 5-2! You look much taller in photos and also you take your photos outside with a tripod? That is fantastic...I've never tried it because I am afraid people will try to steal it. Love this outfit!
ReplyDeleteYour photos keep getting better and better! This top is beautiful on you!
ReplyDeleteI'd be pretty annoyed about the shipping and would definitely complain to UO. That's how I roll.
I'm 5'2" also... isn't it sad to think we could never be models?! it is such a ridiculous standard to be six foot tall and six inches wide. I think that's another reason I'm so drawn to bloggers for my fashion inspiration... real outfits on real people, what a wild idea!
ReplyDeleteI take pics with a tripos and remote too, but I tend to stray from heavily trafficked areas because I'm afraid of someone stealing my camera and I always make akward faces when I realize someone is watching me... maybe you've just inspired me to be a bit braver, the scenery at my house is getting old <3shelby

cute top. I think it goes quite nicely with your jean skirt. way to go :) As a fellow shorty, I feel your pain. I would love to be 5'6", heck I would settle for 5'4"
ReplyDeleteYou are looking fabulous !
ReplyDeleteI love how your hair looks - and I agree they should cover up for their mistakes - why should you pay for it ? Seems like they are forgetting who the customer is.
I'm much too nervous to take my outfit photos outside of my backyard but I want to try to find some more interesting places. I love the print on your top.

ReplyDeleteI love this look (I have that shirt too)! As for being tall (I'm 5'10) and I wish I were shorter...if I wear heels (which I love) I am taller than 98.888% of people. I always great crazy looks from people when I wear even 4 inch heels, makes me wish the world were full of NBA players :D Love your blog-
ReplyDeleteCora (chic-or-treat.blogspot.com)
You definitely could be a model if you wanted, but I am guessing being a blogger is so much more fun.
ReplyDeleteFunny, you are exactly the same height as me but from your photos I would say you look much taller.
You should just say yeah, you are!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a 5'2'' on a good day, so I understand the plight of the short. Love your top! LC for Kohls? Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteLove your stacks of bracelets and that fun blue handbag! I have gotten used to people stopping and staring at the weird girl taking photos of herself...ha!
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the shipping frustration...I hate paying shipping at all, let alone facing hidden charges. Companies should be ENCOURAGING you to buy by shipping free!
ReplyDeleteIn other news, you look fabulous, so hopefully that eases the sting!
height or not.. you are da-gorgeous!! so YES you are a model... for us at least :)
ReplyDeletelove the cute outfit and those colors are really perfect for you... I am also envious of that great head of hair you have!!! hope you had a super day girl xox oJ
hehe, i was always worried about those awkward moments taking photos.
ReplyDeleteYou look great Lyddie and I guess we could say you are a blogger model =)
ReplyDeletethese places will get you on shipping every time
ReplyDeleteon a brighter note i love the top and especially am loving all the bracelets!!

I love that delicate painty top. And I never would have guessed that you're 5'2"! The internet is funny that way!
ReplyDeletei wish i was more bold and didn't mind having people see me take pictures. but i get embarrassed and end up in my backyard a lot. but these are great photos and you're always so well dressed! i love that top. and BTW, i woulda been annoyed too if i already paid $10 then they charged me more too!
