In the Fall

I like the day time. The sun is out and it's all light layers and bare legs and sandals, maybe a cool breeze making you feel the crispness in the air....

But as soon as the sun sets you are all chattering teeth and goosebump covered legs and "Oh my God, I'm so cold I'm gonna freeze to death!"

Which is why I'm a summer lover. I would have though that being born and raised in New England I would not be such a cold wimp, but I truly am.

I'm starting to have my change of season wardrobe freak-out. I haven't done the closet switch out yet. The thought of sweaters does not bring a smile to my face, but rather strikes fear in my heart. Because I know just how cold it's going to get, and just how long it will stay that way. I'm not looking forward to it. I don't even want to think about this. I know the highs are still mid 60s, but one week ago it was over 10° warmer - I know how quickly things can change.

I know most of you are really excited about boots and sweaters and wool, but is anyone still living in denial and in fear of knits like me?

  4. I'm super afraid of winter, since I've never lived in a place as cold as Lyon! This will be my first time facing the snow! :P

    Love your jacket :)

  5. I live for the summer too - hate wearing tights, layers and wool.

  6. I am an autumn person, summers here are far too long and hot.

  10. gorgeous dress! I prefer slightly colder weather because then you can go mad with layering. Not freezing, mind! Just nicely cool.

  12. What a cute dress! Love your pumpkin prop too :)

We feel your pain with the cold. Winters are not fun!

  13. Lyddie, I want that dress! I love the red flowers in it. It would cheer anyone up. Plus I love the color combination of red and brown. It's a great pairing girl! I'm kind of an inbetween girl. I don't like it when it's HOT or COLD. I love the days when there is a nice breeze, you inhale deeply and it feels good. I wish all year round could be like that. CHICadee, I've given you an award, so check out my blog when you have a chance. ((HUG))

  14. Nice dress ;) Where have I seen it before?! :p
I am loving this weather...it is PERFECT! The smell, the leaves, the chillyness *dies* :) Though yes, I could do without the single digit temperatures in winter... :)

  17. That dress is really pretty. It is too cold here to go without tights, so I have accepted fall (but not winter).

  18. Love love love your dress Lyddie! I was excited about fall. I always get excited for fall, until it gets COLD. Then, I get excited for summer again. I always try to psych myself out like it won't be soooo cold, but it always is. When the winter comes and snow is on the ground, I will be the biggest baby. My thermostat at my house is set to 88 in the winter. Not a joke.

  19. Lyddie, I want that dress. If I had such beautiful dresses such as yours, I would probably not want it to be colder, either:)

  20. First of all, I love that dress. Second of all, oh my gosh, YES! I spend all of fall dreading the winter, and I'm not even from a place with a terrible winter. B and I keep talking about how much we like Boston, and I'm like, "But, nine months of winter." And he's all like, "Oh yeah."
    It does sneak up immediately.

  21. Despite my love of fall, sweaters, scarves, etc. I'm really sad that summer is over! Yesterday was one of those days where it was gorgeous in the afternoon, so I wore a dress with bare legs out to dinner, and then when I came home in the evening I was FREEZING!

  22. Yup! count me as a member of Team Summer/Winter Denial. This year, for some reason, I'm even more reticent about the approaching cold and snow.
(love the last pic with the pumpkin!)

  23. I am looking forward to Fall but if there was anyway to skip winter that would be fine by me. PS love this dress on you.

  24. Love the little jacket you paired with it!

  25. Yes. I'm in total denial and fear. I don't want cold weather either. I love the heat.

This dress looks great styled with the jacket. OH, and that awesome belt.

  26. Fall is not my favorite but I absolutely hate winter! Oh well...I finally had to just dive right in.

  27. I was in denial for quite some time - but I think the longer I love in Canada the more I start to appreciate the change of seasons.

Just try to think of comfy warm sweaters, and hot chocolate...and things to make your heart all fuzzy :)

BUT for now I think I'll enjoy what's left of your gorgeous summer outfits.

  31. pumpkin- nice touch :) seasonal closet organizing is the WORST. i hated it so much i downsized my stuff so i could keep everything in one closet all year round.

  32. The dress is so pretty, and you have transitioned it nicely for fall :)

  33. I'm okay with sweaters and tights, but it's when I have to break out the coat and gloves that I start to get mad. I like fall, but winter makes me go crazy. I wish that season could just be eliminated! (But keep all the holidays that come with it of course)

  34. Nope, total sweater and boots lover here, hehe. And I know what you mean about it being beautiful when the sun is out and then turning ridiculously cold when it sets. Kind of makes me regret my wardrobe choices when I'm out when the sun in down.

  35. girl i am a summer lover too! i dread the cold and i was just thinking today how 60 degrees was a little too cold for me.. we can get through it together ;) anyways you look gorgeous! i love this look -- that jacket over this gorgeous dress is perfection xo

  37. Oh you got the colorblock skirt! Awesome! Was just looking at one on J.Crew.com (ebates is having 8% cash back). Do you think this is it for summer dresses? Unfortunately I do, although I think this one could definitely go into winter as well with some warm layers.
