Work, no matter the season is easy. I can wear high heels because I don't have to worry about walking around, and I can commute in warm boots and change out them them when I arrive. I can wear my pencil skirts (something I still occasionally have trouble incorporating into my weekend wear because I hate the idea of 'wasting' them on a non work day) and my blazers... seasonally, work outfits don't change to drastically.
Weekend wear, is another story. Summer is easy. I can throw on a dress and a pair of flat sandals and some bracelets and feel cute and put together and not over dressed. Then if I want, I can put on some heels and dress it up.
In the winter, I'm at a loss... how do I acheive that same feeling of "I threw this on in two seconds but still look fabulous" when I feel like I need a million layers?
Bare legs are out. Ballet flats are out. I looked at last winters outfit photos... there was a whole lot of jeans + sweaters + boots and leggings + sweater dresses + boots.
I need some winter weekend inspiration.
(This was a work outfit. What was I thinking, casual Friday - I should have saved it for the weekend.)

I think that is a darling outfit! I love that top. I definitely use lots of cardigans & blazers in the winter :)
ReplyDeleteyour comment about last season's outfits reminded me of this: http://twitter.com/#!/megankate86/status/135082108908605441 It's hard to get creative in the winter!
ReplyDeleteLovely. And I'm impressed that you dress for the weekends too! These days I'm at home in sweats studying - I'd like to thin it's cute in an I'm a messy grad student kin of way - but I think now that holiday season is here I may need to step it up a bit. : )
ReplyDeleteI quite like this outfit, I could wear it to work and still look dressed up, haha :p
ReplyDeleteAnd yea, I feel so boring in the winter...I just do jeans, sweater, boots XD

I'd say jeans and boots is my winter weekend wardrobe...just too cold for anything else! I love your top, and great pick with those shoes...they are the perfect color!
ReplyDeletei totally understand what you mean, it's easier to dress up and feel cute in the summer. when it's cold, i just feel really lazy and all i wanna wear are sweats and hoodies, haha. thank God for cute coats and scarves. :)
ReplyDeletep.s. as far as i can see, you're doing a really good job being stylish whatever the season. :)

You're so pretty! Love this look. Really like the blazer... the color of those flats is great!
ReplyDeleteThe mustard flats are the perfect shoes for this look. I agree - finding casual winter looks take a lot more work than summer ones!
ReplyDeleteWinter wear can be tough. But a great tunic or textured cardi would be cute (maybe tweed or sequins on the bottom?)

Such a perfect camel blazer! My easy winter uniform is tights, dress and few layers thrown on top (denim shirt, cardigan, scarf)
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you. I HATE the winter. Today we have like 5 inches of snow on the ground and I'm still in my pajamas, totally lacking any inspiration. I just want to sit like this all day watching Christmas movies. Love this blazer! You look so great!
ReplyDeletefor work, i wear a lot of dresses. i used to wear a lot of dresses on weekends too, but i now i need to wear pants cos i need to bow down, squat, bend and run after the baby a lotttt :D
ReplyDeleteI've finally had time to catch up on reading some of my favorite blogs and just wanted to say that you've been posting some insanely lovely photos lately! I love all the pics at sunset...and of course your fun outfits :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful outfit!!!lovely pics!!!i'm following you!!if you like mine do the same!!!
ReplyDeleteI think in winter, if you want to stay warm and practical, you have to resort to jeans and boots and dress and boots. Just rotate scarves and accessories. No matter what you will still be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI wore jeans today! It took me twice as long to get dressed and I changed three times. I think wearing a blazer is a good way to look casually put together.
ReplyDeleteGuess what else I did today? Fabric!
I actually saw that top at target and passed it up but seeing you in it makes me wish I had gotten it, cute. Like the yellow flats too.

Love the earthy tones! Great shoes, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat about using thermal wear, hidden away under your clothes but warm at the same time.
ReplyDeleteYou could still wear your blouse and blazer but have a thermal top under the blouse (you can get various weights and fibre-types) and then use a scarf as accessory in the neckline of the blouse.
I find cotton jeans in the winter let in the cold so always wear a pair of thermal leggings underneath.
Skirts with tights and boots look super too and I know some women actually wear two pair (1 tights, 1 stocking) for added warmth.
Love the print on your blouse! Gorgeous :D And the colour looks amazing on you!

Really pretty, you look so good!! Loved your idea on my post, putting multiple clutches in different colours in a clear bag! Thanks for the inspiration!

I totally feel the same way! well, my favorite seasons are fall and spring, cause in summer I quickly feel underdressed too :) I LOVE your floral blouse! x
ReplyDeleteI really love the colours in your top, so much potential! You look fab!
ReplyDeleteI love your mustard flats and that Tucker for Target top! I wanted one of those tops, but they ran out of my size! :(
ReplyDeleteYou'd think winter would be easier, so many layers to play with.
ReplyDeleteBut not only is the cold a total downer, putting on all those layers is such a pain.
SO I'm right there with you. In desperate need of winter outfit inspiration!

I haven't worn that blouse in ages - it looks fantastic with your blazer. Definitely the inspiration I need to love it again!
ReplyDeleteI love pairing that blouse with yellow! I totally know what you mean--I seem to have sweater + scarf + jeans + boots on repeat all winter.
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit! The colors are great :)
ReplyDeleteWeekends have become something of a thing for me. I go wild trying new things on weekends because I don't have to wear it to work. I feel less scared that I'll look funny in front of friends: so I try belting, scarves, that sort of thing. My weekends are my experiment days ;)
I have a similar dilemma! On the weekends I tend to layer up with denim and long sleeves and sweaters. Not fashionable but oh so warm. Maybe if we stick to cute cable knits and colored denim?
