I've already made my first purchase of the year, the Madden Girl booties I spotted at TJ Maxx. Since I couldn't find my size there, I did end up ordering them from Amazon where they were only $29. I saved a whole dollar and sales tax. (But ended up paying only $8 of my own money because I had a gift card.)
Last week Laurel at Trophy Boutique posted about the trendiness of pairing a sweater with a pleated skirt and I had to try it out immediately. While I love the overall look, I think it would probably work best with a more cropped sweater... I kept trying to scrunch it up all day long, but it refused to stay.
In a silly aside note, this skirt has finally paid for itself. Yes, I've now worn it three whole times! I'm not sure why I haven't worn it more. Mystery of the universe, I guess.

Oh my, that is indeed such a lovely skirt! I'm sure you will find more lovely ways to make it amazing. ;) I do love the texture and color of that top against it, though! The gold accessories are perfect accessories to warm it up, too.
ReplyDeleteI didn't do much for the new year. I stayed up on Tumblr until about 10:30, got cold, and decided sleep sounded nice. I'm so eventful!

cute booties! what's the scoop with the fit? comfy? wear-able for long periods of time?
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is awesome, I love the softness especially paired with the sweater.
ReplyDeleteI love the sweater and skirt thing, but I've only done it once because I think it really messed with my proportions. It helps to be taller with a longer sweater... why can't I grow? :( Oh well, as you say, there is always the cropped sweater.
ReplyDeleteLove that skirt! I've been on the hunt for a pleated skirt but no luck :( I love how you styled it the 1st and 2nd time you wore them as well. I think the 2nd time is my favorite :)Maybe I'll check out some local thrift stores too!
ReplyDeleteYay! I love this kind of outfit, obviously, and you look smashing in the orange! Keep that skirt in the rotation, you never know what you might be inspired to put with it...
ReplyDeletehappy new year!!! i hope you had a great one :-) i LOVE your outfit and the shoes were a great steal!!

Hey! We have the same sweater! (Though you obviously bought it in a more sensible color - mine is the neon yellow one that I mentioned in my post today, and will be featuring in my post tomorrow!)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just bought that leopard print fedora you have on your left sidebar. I think we have very similar wardrobes :)
I have been searching high and low for a thrifted pleated skirt! I love the color of yours. It's perfect to pair with everything! Glad to see you getting your use out of it :)

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this outfit in particular today because I actually picked up that same sweater from the Gap a few days ago in gray and didn't know it came in that lovely coral color I'm really into right now, and when I checked the website with the 30% off sale items they're running right now, it'll come to half of what I paid for the gray version on Friday! Good shopping score :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skirt!!

ReplyDeleteOoo... sweater with a pleated skirt- cute! I've been looking for new ways to style my pleated skirt. I may have to give this a try.
ReplyDeleteI love pleated skirts. Especially when they're made of chiffon. So soft & flowy! Tops can be tricky with them, but the sweater looks great with it. I love the color of it and your bracelets.
