No it doesn't. Don't be silly.
When shopping secondhand, sometimes I get into the mentality that I don't want to pay more than $10 for anything, but it's important to keep in mind what you are getting for the price - you can go to any inexpensive store these days like Kohls or Target and get a costume jewelry ring for $20. This ring will probably turn pink or green a short time after you wear it. My ring from Poshlocket, which cost over $20 turned pink all around the band (I guess the rhodium rubbed off?) which is irritating.
I know that sterling silver will pretty much last forever, and even if it tarnishes, I can polish it right back up again.
The ring may not be new, but it was definitely worth my $20.
The necklace is by Joan Rivers. I guess she has a line for the home shopping network. Who knew?
Oh, and this backdrop is the consignment shop where I bought my new jewels. Obviously I wore them out, or rather, had the girl ring them up while I was wearing them.

1st off, I love your math skills there, too funny!
ReplyDelete2nd that ring is with $20 or more. It's so cute. The entire outfit is cute. and look so good in that hat.
OoooH Great finds!! Love the ring and necklace. Christine fun fact : Used to have a roommate who's mom worked for the Joan Rivers jewelry line. Anyway, this post is making me want to go look for some second hand treasures!

A perfect rationalization, says I. I love the backdrop--what a cute looking shop! And the necklace and ring are gorgeous. Totally worth the extra $4 over budget. By the way, I linked you in my post the other day.
ReplyDeleteOh, I see you have the same shopping math as I do. ;o)
ReplyDeleteLove all the golden baubles!
love the fedora!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great point, I have a bad habit in thrift stores of seriously doubting any purchase over $5-10, when I would jump at that price for a new item in a Target. The thrifted items are usually SO much better quality. I love the stuff you picked out the gold necklace is especially nice.
ReplyDeleteyour new baubles are very pretty and were totally worth the 26 bucks you paid for them ;)

That awesome hat again...love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not your math teacher Lydia or I'd be in serious trouble!! Kidding! I love the necklace, it looks like a good buy
ReplyDeleteI literally just put that bag on my wish list! Love (pretty much) everything Zara. BTW that hat is killer!
ReplyDeleteI never knew Joan Rivers had a HSN line either. Looks very vintage! It reminds me of a necklace my neighbor has. Sometimes it can be hard for me to buy jewelry because so much of it is $40+ and so badly made. I just got invited to a lia sophia party and fortunately I cannot go because most of their pieces are $100+. Pretty, but ugh.
ReplyDeleteI neeed a leopard fedora. Cute look. Great accessories :)

I totally agree--if the quality is there then it's $20 well spent! Both pieces will be great additions to your (already awesome) jewelry collection!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! And I was never good at math so if you say 20+10= 26 I'll take your word for it!
ReplyDeleteLove the lip color you have on, mind sharing what it is?

The pieces you're wearing look super ultra luxe (what a magazine phrase...sorry, it was applicable). The jeans have a great cut - love the jewelry...can we talk about that amazing watch? Looks like Cartier.
