This past weekend was a pretty great one; I got to attend two fabulous parties.
The first was a surprise birthday party for one of my oldest friends, Bethany. The celebration was held at Cuvee, a restaurant in West Hartford, which is about an hour from where I live, and to say that I was terrified of making the trip alone would be an understatement. But I'm glad I pushed myself to go despite my fears, because I would have hated to have missed out on such a fun evening with my friend.
The second party was a Miracle Fruit Party. If you've not heard of this before, the miracle fruit is a type of berry that has the ability to temporarily change the way your taste buds work; making sour or tart foods taste sweet.
So a wedge of lemon can be eaten like you might eat an orange, a glass of buttermilk tastes like a yogurt smoothie, 90% dark chocolate has almost no bitterness (and is amazing when combined with a strawberry), tomatoes are sweeter, sharp and tangy cheeses lose that quality, and cheap champagne tastes like an ice wine.
It's a really fun experience, especially with a group of people, to see how all the foods become altered, some for better, some for worse. Like Tabasco sauce, which tastes sweet at first, but then the heat comes on full force and it was not a good idea to try more than a drop!
Loving all your nautical stripey action! Looks like a fun celebration!

So many things to comment on in this post! First off: Great outfit, I love the vinyl texture of the clutch and the red pops great against the blue dress.
ReplyDeleteSecond: your friend is so pretty & she looked really happy on her bday.
Third: miracle fruit? Whaaaaat? I've never heard of it, and much less what it does to the taste buds. Sounds so cool!
