These striped shorts from Old Navy probably would have been a better purchase earlier in the summer, but I couldn't find them in the store (I went to two locations!) so I finally ordered them on line and then had to wait for what seemed like ages for them to arrive.

So I styled them simply for a day at the beach with all my favorite nautical pieces.
I sat in the sun and read the NY Times style mag cover to cover (and by read, I mean look at the clothes).

It's the last day of August! How could this ever happen? I feel like I spend my whole life just waiting for it to be summer again.

Another J.Crew inspired look; I really love what they do with a pencil skirt.
Even though their no. 2 pencil skirts aren't built to fit a curvy petite gal like me, this knit skirt does the job just as well (and only cost me $30).

Late summer wedding

This past weekend I attended my friend's beautiful wedding. Her ceremony and cocktail hour took place outdoors, and the evening was superb.

I decided that this lovely floral dress that London Times sent over would be perfect for the occasion; it is light and floaty with a good 'twirl factor' for the dance floor. Plus, the floral print in the hourglass shape makes it so flattering.

I had a lot of fun playing up the bright colors of the dress, wearing cute little flower studs and even going for an electric green manni. My pink clutch matched the belt so perfectly; I love it.

Less casual

Twice a year when my company closes early and goes out to lunch at a nice restaurant, I like to take the opportunity to dress up a little more than usual.

I'm the only person who does this. Everyone else pretty much just wear jeans.
Fortunately, now that I've been there for a while, this is expected of me, and not dressing up would probably garner comments like "What's wrong, where are your heels?"
