It was so fun seeing all the other bloggers, and pretty much every possible trend out right now, x100. Peplum tops, printed pants, sock buns, stacks of bracelets - the pressure to look your best was ON.
At the conference we got to hear from the editor of Lucky, the president of Macy's, bloggers like PS I Made this and The Man Repeller (who is married, by the way, and therefore has failed in her mission).
Of course most people were quite excited about Rachel Zoe and Lauren Conrad, but having never watched either of their shows, I found Anna Sui to be the most engaging of all the guests. It was basically her childhood dream to become a designer, and she went out and did it. She travels all over getting inspiration, and keeps an entire closet full of pages torn from magazines. Loved hearing her.
There were also tons of vendors offering up contests and giveaways, most of which I managed to miss out on because there wasn't enough time unless you skipped out on hearing the guests. They also ran over, so the half hour which was allotted for lunch was only 15 minutes.
Overall I thought it was a well run conference, considering it was only one day - however if I were to attend again, I would pick and choose which speakers I wanted to hear and give myself some time to enjoy the things the vendors have to offer (hello - free clothes - I missed out on the free clothes!) and also take more time to network with the other bloggers. I didn't exchange cards with a single blogger all day!
There was barely even time for outfit photos, but since I was debuting my printed pants, I dragged Meg outside and made darn sure we got some!

The conference sounds really interesting and fun (but yeah, I've been to enough academic conferences to know that you only attend some panels so that you can take some open slots to check out the book vendor stalls and have coffee dates with fellow academics). Also, hot damn I love those pants!

You both look great! I absolutely love those printed pants from ON.
ReplyDeleteI did not attend, but the panel i would have loved to see the one with Anna Sui and Simon Doonan. They are two people that I absolutely admire in fashion.
Your pants are very cool and I love Meg's lace dress!

Ahh! I'm glad that you had a good time, even though you didn't get to mingle as much as you could have. I guess some things are just too planned out to have room for things like that... ah well!

You and several other style bloggers have done so well at Old Navy that I'm afraid to go in and possibly lose a whole paycheck :o Great pants!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had fun. Vendor swag including free clothes? Please take pics next year; we never get that kind of swag at law conferences...lol.

Those printed pants rock..
ReplyDeleteIf i ever attended something like this I would be a wall flower.
I want you to know that I am living vicariously through your NYFW experience right now. It is so cool to hear about it from a viewpoint that isn't gushing or sucking up or ho-hum "another show, no big deal".
ReplyDeleteAlso, both of you ladies look just absolutely stunning! I love your ikat printed pants and that dress on Meg is just gorgeous!
Yeahhh lunch was crazy, right? I had no idea what was going on for that. I missed a lot of the brand experiences, too. And I haven't even written about Lucky FABB yet... bad! Maybe tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteAnd I have another conference tomorrow. This is quickly getting out of hand, haha.
