Stripes + Floral

When it comes to mixing prints, stripes and floral will always be my favorite. Choosing a monochromatic color pallet also makes print mixing a cinch.

I've got spend the rest of my day off baking for Easter - for those of you who celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

P.S. I would be so grateful if you'd vote for me to be the Wallis Blogger Ambassador!

Spring

It actually felt like spring for a little bit over the weekend. Mid-afternoon, in the sun, when the wind wasn't blowing; it was gorgeous.

It is the perfect weather for the lightweight scarf, and Fraas, the German scarf company was kind enough to provide a sample from their new line, Mystical Coast. The pastel watercolor print is easy to mix into my spring wardrobe and is perfect for this transitional weather.

I even dared to bare a little leg. It's not much, but it's a start.

P.S. I would be so grateful if you'd vote for me to be the Wallis Blogger Ambassador!

Hat in the ring

Wallis, the Britain based high street fashion retailer is in search of a US blogger ambassador, and I am vying for the position.

Wallis believes that women need to be treated as individuals and not stereotypes; therefore I feel I would be the perfect blogger ambassador for Wallis because I am anything but the stereotypical fashion blogger.

I'm petite, but not the double zero kind. When I say I'm mixing high-end pieces with budget finds, chances are good that my high-end is someone else's budget. There's an even better chance I got it on sale. Even though I love adding new things to my closet, I continue to wear and remix items I've had for the better part of a decade.

Wallis offers a petite line of clothes, nearly everything on their site is under $100, and their sale section is full of hundreds of half off items. While many of their colors and prints are trendy, the cuts are classics that will always be stylish, and Wallis promises that "quality of fit and fabric is paramount".

See, we are a perfect fit!

Now, I need your help; to prove that I'm the right girl for the job, please go to the Wallis Facebook page and vote for me. You can do this daily until April 9th.

They are announcing the winner on April 12th a.k.a My Birthday, so pretty please help me get the very best present ever.

And for the sake of a visual aid, here are a few things I'm loving at the moment:

Freshly Picked

London Times never disappoints - they have gorgeous, budget friendly dresses, and awesome giveaways. I'm so excited to share my recent collaboration with you!

Spring is officially here, and I've chosen five spring style essentials: this beautiful mirror print floral dress, so eye catching and so wearable. A neon green leather clutch to match, as you can't go wrong with a leather bag. Some bright sparkly nail polish, because you know I'm a total magpie. A modern lucite tray for organizing the chaos of makeup and jewelry. And lastly, a good listen, Ellie Goulding's latest album, Halcyon.

Now for the best part, London Times is giving away not just the dress, but all of my fresh picks to one lucky reader!

Hurry on over to the London Times blog to read more about why I'm loving these Fresh Picks and to enter.
This giveaway will only be open until 11:59 pm est on Wednesday the 27th, so you don't have much time!
London Times will pick a winner and contact them by email on 3.28.13. Winner will have 48 hours to claim their prize.

Too soon for white eyelet

I've been shopping a lot lately. I picked up this white eyelet lace top from Coco's of Madison, part of their $10 sale. This jacket came from Kohls, I had a 30% off coupon which lured me in. Anxious to wear them despite the cold, I toughed it out for a few minutes without my coat and gloves.

And I did have to take off my gloves to show off this lovely ring from RedEnvelope. It's a birthstone ring, but my recent green infatuation lead me to choose May's green onyx over my actual April stone. I blame Pantone.

I was feeling a little guilty for taking outfit photos with someone else's dog last week, so here is my lovely Chloe; though considering the bitter cold wind, she was probably wishing I just left her home.

Tech at hand

Ever since I got my first iPhone nearly five years ago I've grown more and more attached to it. Fueled partly by a Fear of Missing Out (thanks Jewish Girl for sharing the link) having the phone close at hand has become a necessity. This was always particularly challenging for evening wear, so few clutches can accommodate the phone along with they myriad of other things I need.

JavoEdge's clever phone pouch is a hybrid clutch and wallet, with slots for credit cards, a zippered compartment, and of course, space for your phone. I can be carried as a wristlet, converted to a crossbody, or used as a wallet.

Now if only it could charge the phone too.

A little nautical

Same story every spring, I start craving nautical things. Perhaps it's due to my shoreline proximity, or perhaps it's just because striped things are just so darn cute and primary colors look good together for a reason. Whatever the case may be, here are a few little loves.

a little nautical

Striped Dress by Joe Fresh, $48 at JCP
Striped Canvas and Leather Tote by Fossil, $188 at Piperlime
Dalmatian iPhone 4 Case, $25 at J.Crew
Yellow Leather Belt, $20 at Gap
Gold Anchor Ring by Applelatte, $15 at Etsy

Neon + Tweed

A slight variation of the last time I wore this dress, but if it's not broken, right?

The first day of spring has finally arrived, on the tails of another snowstorm (of course) and with no promises that these freezing temps are behind us.  I am so ready for warm weather, so much so that 57° would probably feel like summer to me.

The leopard, the gingham, and the westie

No, I haven't gotten a new dog, I was just looking after this rambunctious fellow for a few days.

Green gingham

eShakti, the retro inspired, completely customizable, online fashion company, gave me the opportunity to style another piece, and this time I decided to take full advantage of their custom styling options.

I followed all the instructions and diagrams for taking the measurements, and even had someone help me. The measurements can only be done in whole numbers, so anytime I measured a half size, I rounded up. Based on their size chart, my waist would be a size 6 and my bust a size 10, so the custom sizing seemed essential.

I'm happy with the waist size and the length, but the bust is just a little too tight. I wore the same bra I had on when I took the measurements, since that can alter the size, but it's a bit of a squeeze, which is unfortunate.

Still, it's a great dress for the spring and summer, I love the bright green gingham and the pockets!

I wore this outfit on Saturday for another brunch with Christine, Meg and Tiffany. We went to Lena's Cafe in New Haven (which was delicious!) and after, decided to go to the beautiful Yale campus to take our photos. The architecture and grounds are just gorgeous, and we would have spent more time, had we not been so freezing!
