Do you really want to trade it all away so quickly?
Autumn is a brief prelude to what will be a long, annoying, cold winter. In fact, there are rarely any good fall days at all. Either it's hot enough to feel like summer, it's cold enough to feel like winter, or its raining.
I understand why you want fall. You want those crisp days where it's cold enough to layer a shirt, a sweater and a blazer, but still warm enough to not have tights on. You dream of looking like you walked out of a J.Crew catalog, and you believe it needs to be fall in order to achieve this.
But it's just a dream.
Please, try and enjoy the rest of the summer. We've only got three more weeks.

I'm conflicted about summer and fall... while I much prefer fall fashion, I'm beginning to wonder if the clothes are more fun simply because something has to make up for the miserable weather we'll be suffering with. Cool days already seem to have reached all of the places I'm travelling through, so I sadly don't have much choice but to put on my fall clothes and embrace it... I'm glad I can live the last days of summer vicariously through bloggers. And I love your clutch! So fun.

Summer is my favorite season because of the hot weather that always me to wear more than pants. I refuse to be cold so during the 3 other season, I wear just pants.
ReplyDeleteI love Fall fashion but I'm with you...I don't like that it brings gross winter.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute clutch! You're right Fall is so short and we'll be looking for warm temps as soon as those temps start to fall! There's just something about Fall fashion that gets me all the time! :)
ReplyDeleteWise words my friend, summer is still around and we should get the most out of it. Working for a magazine does make me think a bit ahead, but when it comes to my looks on the blog, I'm still about making summer last the longest, specially cause it feels pretty much like summer down here up until October! About your outfit, I adore that clutch, is so unique! Hope you're enjoying the long weekend sweetie!

ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm totally one who is ready for fall. I had a wonderful summer and now ready to transition into fall. But, I guess if I lived near the beach I would think differently. I love your clutch bag. :) /Madison
ReplyDeleteI love Summer and since I live in South Fla. I get to enjoy it more than many. So, enjoy the breeze flowing thru your maxis and ice cream in the eve.
ReplyDeleteI liked your Facebook page Lydia, be sure to like man. Congrats! I'm trying to get all of Summer in. HAHAHA I've been shopping for Fall, but that's about it. Love that clutch!

While I admire your spirited defense of summer, winter is my favorite season after fall so, for me (and yes, I understand I am in the minority on this!) fall has no downside - it just flows from one amazing season to the next!

Haha...Ok, I'm guilty of wanting it to be fall. But in California it doesn't really get cold so it's not that big of a deal. I'm just starting to get sick of my summer clothes and want it to be cool enough to layer. But yeah, I wouldn't be looking forward to the cold if I was still in Pennsylvania!
ReplyDeleteI liked your fb page!

such a cute dog! and you look so pretty! xx
ReplyDeleteI am giving you a cyber standing ovation! Every time it is really "fall" fall weather, I immediately get annoyed with the prospect of scraping windshields, stepping through slush in your shoes and always having wet socks! Ugh! And you look classic and wonderful in the b/w and red! Live on summer!
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit and really great post.

ReplyDeleteFunny, it's spring here and I'm so excited for it. I think we forget the bad things about a season when it comes closer. But I can't think of anything bad for spring right now, haha!
Away From The Blue
Haha! Last weekend it was 90 and humid in DC and I was desperately wishing for chilly weather. Of course, it was 70 in Wisconsin yesterday and I took all of that back.

Sigh, I actually like summer! Not the sweltering heat, but I do like being able to ride my bike in the mornings without layering myself up like a little eskimo... I forgot all about that... oh dear, winter is coming!
ReplyDeleteI'll savor summer with you, Lyddie.
I love the simplicity of this outfit. Your top looks so breezy and nice, and that clutch has such a fun weave on it!

Love your clutch and shoes with your b & w look. I am so with you on not rushing fall! I love the weather but the short days are a real bummer. I definitely plan to enjoy the last stretch of the season.
ReplyDeleteHa! Sorry, but fall is pretty much the undisputed best season in New York and a very good season for the last two years despite the extreme weather. Can't argue with 70 degrees in the last week of October.
ReplyDeleteI do have to find my fall clothes though, and I have no idea where they are.
I think Chloe likes summers more too... enjoy what's left of it :)
