Denim Pencil

Being the shorty that I am, I generally try to avoid hemlines below my knee. With the recent trend of midi skirts they are becoming more prevalent and of course I find myself tempted to try them out.

This Lux denim pencil skirt was found at a consignment store called the label exchange, and just when I thought I was going to leave empty handed, I spied this on the $5 rack and had to try it on. With visions of how fabulous Meg, E, and Jenny look in their denim pencil skirts, all the ways I could style it started racing through my brain; graphic tee and a blazer, chunky knit sweater and booties, white blouse with leopard pumps!

Sure, it's a little long, and maybe has the slightest bit of a waistband gap in the back, but I fully intend on wearing the heck out of this skirt and getting my five dollars worth. Then I can decide definitively if I can pull off this length.

  4. I love how you styled the skirt with that gorgeous jacket! The majority of midi skirts I've seen have been very full so it's nice to see it in a pencil skirt version!

  10. I know we're the same height - and yet, midi length is one I've never avoided. Maxi, definitely (although that's mainly because I always trip over the hems.) I really don't think it's true that below-the-knee skirts are unflattering on petites. I mean, anything can be unflattering if it fits poorly. But this skirt fits you like a glove (since I can't see the slight waist gap I can say that) and you are going to get so much wear out of it. I'm going through a bit of a denim obsession this season and now I'm hoping I'll stumble upon something similar on one of my rare trips to our local vintage stores!

  11. Midi length looks like awkward ankle length so I have to be sure that I actually find a midi skirt. It can be such a struggle!

  30. I am not quite sure the skirt is long enough for a midi look, but i like it.
The jacket is my favorite, speciallly how it matches the lining on the bag. It's all in the details.
