Together at last

I purchased this scalloped hem blazer and these matching shorts three years ago at H&M, and while I've worn them plenty of times separately, this is the first time I've ever worn them together.

I kind of love that the scalloped hem trend is still just as big (if not bigger) today than it was three years ago. Back then I had to go to NYC and traipse around to three different H&M locations (actually not a huge deal in NYC since there is pretty much one on every street corner) before I found the shorts. They were even a size too big and I had to take them in. Now, not only can you shop H&M online, but scalloped shorts are pretty abundant in every color and print.

Spring is a fickle season

I have this idea of what ideal spring weather should be in my mind, but there is no actual truth or evidence to support it. This idillic spring weather would be mostly sunny and 60° to 65°. An outfit like this would be perfect.

The reality is that when it's 60° it is also dark, cloudy, and raining, which means it feels like 40° and ballet flats and a paper hat are poor choices. However when it's sunny, it some how gets up to 80° and jeans, long sleeves, and a jacket are poor choices.

This day happened to include both those scenarios.

Cool like that

Alissa and I go way back, by which I of course mean two years, when Alissa started blogging. She is one of those people who I felt an instant connection with, and if we didn't live 1,500 miles apart we would hang out all time.

I always look forward to reading Alissa's posts; she is completely sincere and more often than not, manages to completely crack me up, like the time she did a face plant on to concrete to save a cake she'd baked (pretty darn impressive). Moreover, I love her style and want raid her closet because sartorially we are on the exact same page. I know this because we are wearing the same outfit, and we didn't even plan it.

Woven/Printed

This dress has been hanging around since March. It's another one from OASAP, and true to form, had all kinds of fit issues. To wear this dress, your bust, waist and hips would all need to be the same measurement.

I will say that aside from the cut, this jacquard dress is actually of decent quality. The material is very thick and in addition to the jacquard inspired print, the material is woven with a jacquard pattern. Its partially lined and pretty well constructed.

Because of those factors and how much I loved the print, I decided to put in the effort to take in the waist, give this dress some actual shape, and finally wear it!
