Stay light

No matter what the calendar says, it's hard to fight the pull of the Fall.
It's hard to ignore that the days are getting shorter, the nights cooler.
It's hard to see the sweaters in the store windows, and as much as I don't want them, I want them.

I just wish summer ended on September 22nd, and not September 1st.

His and Hers

Today is a first for Chic on the Cheap, today's post features men's fashion. I'm pretty excited and happy to be introducing you to my boyfriend, Sean. He wasn't initially too keen on joining me, but when Lisa, the fabulous PR rep I've been working with, asked me if I was doing men's fashion these days, I thought it would be the perfect catalyst.

When it comes my to own fashion choices, comfort is an adjective that often gets placed pretty low on the list, however that is not the case with men. That's why Tani, currently tailored exclusively to men, puts comfort first with their undergarments.

Sean has on their Swiss Cotton v-neck, which is extraordinarily soft, stretchy, and comfortable. I'm particularly fond of v-necks on men, and while the description states it can be worn on it's own, it would probably be best to size up for that purpose. It's also entirely possible I will be borrowing it, on those days when 'comfort' creeps up just a bit higher on my list.

Hopefully this won't be the last you see of Sean on the blog, but even if it is, I'm just happy he puts up with playing photographer whenever we are together, loves going thrift shopping with me, despite my keeping him in the store about an hour longer than he would like, and even submits to the occasional selfie.

Today I've joined up with Megan to present a mini look book showcasing pieces from Marrin Costello, an LA based jewelry designer.

While Meg certainly isn't a stranger on my blog, this the first time we've done a collaboration like this and I'm really excited to share it with you! Marrin's pieces are delicate, feminine, and edgy. For the first look, I'm styling the gold Saratoga bracelet, an equestrian piece that looks great on it's own, but can easily be layered up (as I so often do). Meg is wearing the gold Helix necklace, which makes a striking contrast against her recently acquired and adorable Jason Wu dress.

For the second look, I have on the Baby Bowser bracelet, gold spike beads pointing every which way are the perfect tough-but-feminine accessory to my asymmetrical LBD. Continuing with the spikes, Meg has the silver clustered Stellar ring, along with the coordinating Midi rings. And yes, I did intentionally match my shoes to Megan's skirt!

One more beach weekend

I can't believe Labor Day weekend is already upon us, and I could think of no better way to spend it then at the beach. Hello Cheeseburger Giveaway!

Hello Cheeseburger is home to an array of sparkly jewels, curated by Jennifer the creator of the shop and brand, and recently joined by one of my blogger besties, Alissa. From what I've seen on Instagram and read in the 'about' section, it would seem the two of them spend all day wearing pretty jewelry, eating froyo, donuts and ice cream cookie sandwiches, and playing with puppies. Basically I wish I were in Kansas and could work there too.

Let's talk about hair. It took me a long time to figure mine out; it's thick, it frizzes at the mere suggestion of humidity, it's extremely oily, yet still dry enough to become flaky. I still remember how embarrassed I felt when I first noticed dandruff in my hair when I was in middle school. That was when I started using Head and Shoulders.

Not a lot has changed with my hair since then, but I can't say the same for Head and Shoulders. They now offer a whole line of shampoos and conditioners with amazing scents that do more than just guarantee a flake free scalp. I recently got a chance to try out the Smooth and Silky frizz control duo from their fresh scent technology collection, and in combination with my flat iron and a reasonable humidity level, you can see my hair is looking healthy, full of body, and lacking frizz and flakes.
