Having my midriff exposed to the world is high on my list of things I would never want to happen, however, pairing a crop top with a high wasited skirt not only keeps me covered, but eliminates the awkward tucking situation. Which leads me to my question, does anyone else struggle to tuck their blouses into their skirts? I feel like I spend ages trying to arrange it just so, and then heaven forbid I raise my arms, it becomes undone and I have to start over again.
Perhaps I should embrace the crop. I thinking about this cropped sweater from Banana Republic now...
Oh - one more thing! A few weeks ago I hinted about how over the summer I was filmed for a segment of a TLC show, and I can finally let you know that the show is Extreme Cheapskates and my episode will be airing on October 22nd at 9PM ET/PT.

So cute! I should try a crop top with something high waisted....but then I would have to buy both of those things, haha.

What a pretty crop top! I love the idea of wearing something higher waisted!

SO cute!!
ReplyDeleteI'm only into a few of the trends that are coming back. I gave crop tops a try too, actually. I totally adore your bag and kudos on your TLC episode.

See you soon on my blog

You look so chic and polished!! I love that you incorporated plaid and the cropped trend here. And yes, tucking can be so annoying and I have the same issues! I actually wore a few crop tops when we went to New York this summer and that helped me not be self conscious about them anymore!

You are so so pretty! I love the plaid and how polished this outfit is. xx

Oh wow! A TLC show. I am totally DVRing that. I haven't tried a crop top yet but I agree about not wanting to expose any midriff-al area. You made a great choice with the high waisted skirt. This look is classic looking.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous, Lydia! Perfect how you combined your cropped top with a high-waist skirt!

I have not jumped on the crop top trend for feature of stomach exposure. I love how you paired it here and how fun that you will be on TLC!

I have been tempted to try to crop top but haven't given in as yet. The ones I seem to like design wise are bit too short for my liking.
ReplyDeleteHOW EXCITING!! Looking fwd to watching your episode!
Ha, I know exactly what you mean about tucking tops! Love the way you've paired this plaid top with a high-waisted skirt. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteGetting your top perfectly tucked into your skirt has to be the most annoying task, I feel you.

Gorgeous!!! I love the plaid! So pretty :)

It's true, many trends from the 90s have come back. Although, I love the more modern versions best, like your top with the studded hardware/necklace. :) You look great!

Oh I've heard of that show!!! Amazing! I hope to catch it, though I don't have cable. I love this crop top! And, yes, I have the same tucking issue. Back when I was smaller and flatter chested, all the shirts in my size were also very short and tucking it in was a challenge.
ReplyDeleteThat top looks super cute on you, sweetie. Happy Monday. xo
ReplyDeleteTLC?? thats so awesome. .very very cool.
ReplyDeletethat top looks great. I too would never want to wear a crop top and bare that part of myself.. I used to back in the day when it was stylish but not now.. that said if I found something like what you are wearing I may try it. Looks cute!!
Love the outfit , you look beautiful!

It doesn't even look cropped. I love the fit. Yes I totally get what you're saying about the tucking issue. Heaven forbid I try the half tuck. It just doesn't happen for me. I can't wait to see your episode! That's awesome that you're going to be on extreme cheapskates!
ReplyDeleteI love the little gold ring its so different and pretty!

I love this take on the crop top! It isn't too revealing, which is definitely my style! And I cannot wait to see your episode!! So awesome! :)

Hey congrats on the show! I just googled it - because i had not heard of it - and to be honest I was a little scared. I just saw the episode of the woman who does not use toilet paper and "rinses" instead….
ReplyDeleteOh and I am loving your hair here and that great neck piece.
gorgeous top!

Lydia, that top looks super-fabulous on you! I love the tartan print and the embellishments along the neckline are gorgeous. Nice pairing with the skirt. I am so happy for you! I love TLC, so I will definitely tune in. You must be so excited! Super congratulations to you doll! You deserve it. Hard work is always recognized and leads to other good things :D

Too cool, I'll have to watch you on TLC! The crop top trend is one that I've managed to avoid, but I agree that they do look great paired with high-waisted skirts!
ReplyDeleteThis look is adorable on you! I love everything about it, from the plaid top to the shoes and bag. Just perfect!

I wasn't allowed to wear crop tops the first time they were in style in my life, and eventually came to realise that wasn't such a bad thing. I never dreamed I would consider exposing my midriff as an adult but I have to admit, I find the new incarnation of crop tops so much more elegant - this bejewelled plaid beauty definitely included - that it really does tempt me to try the trend myself.
ReplyDeletexox,
Cee
Love the combo of the high waisted skirt and crop top. So pretty!
ReplyDeletelove your bag!
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit! I love how your wore the crop top with a high waisted skirt. I'm a little midriff shy so I'm going to try this! Thank you for sharing!

Aaaah yes, I am all too familiar with this "awkward tucking situation" you have so referred to. You need to coin that phrase (though I'm sure you just did). I love that crop top too too much, maybe it's the tartan (probably); hope you have a stunning rest of your week, Miss Lyddie! Hopefully my own commenting will pick up so I apologize for such sparse words <3
ReplyDeleteThat top doesn't look cropped with the pretty high-waist skirt. I keep seeing more and more red+white plaid blouses in blogosphere lately and I love them
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I love your top and purse!
