I need to be a lot more critical of what I'm keeping in my closet, making room for things I don't feel 100% amazing in is counter-productive. I think the blazer can probably stay, but the pants might be a little too tight, and clearly don't hold up well after a day of wear - they were wrinkle free before I put them on in the morning.

Yea, I know what you mean, I've been getting a little better about getting rid of things like that. I agree with the pants, the fit is a little odd on you. But I'd keep the blazer :)

Dont you just hate it when that happens ? You search the stores, stay up late night googling, lurking and then you find that garment you wanted so much…. it arrives, you wear it once, twice and then forget about it.
ReplyDeleteI like both garments and would probably try wearing the trousers more this summer and then let them go. The jacket its a keeper.
While it's important to get rid of things you don't wear, but beware of going too far in the other direction - I'm a compulsive organiser and closet cleaner and have recently noticed that I have gotten rid of not one but two pairs of shoes that I intended to keep! Oops. Luckily I don't get emotionally attached to things like footwear, but still, it seems like a waste. But speaking of critical, I think that when it comes to our outfits we are always far harder on ourselves than others are. I would never have thought these pants were too tight (although I admit, wrinkling does drive me crazy, so I would fully support getting rid of them because of that.) And as for the blazer, well, it's black, white and striped, so of course I love it ;)

I love those blue pants!

I love that blazer on you, sweetie. xoxo
ReplyDeleteKeep the blazer (it's awesome!). But I definitely take your point about needing to make critical choices. I'm really bad for that and my closet pays the price...

I feel the same way. That is why I am not shopping this summer. I love this blazer! I'm glad it is coming out to play!
ReplyDeleteLove the color of your of your pants, that jacket is the perfect pairing for it!
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time letting go of pieces in my closet too. Even if I haven't worn it in a year I still think one day I might need to wear it! But I did a closet clean out recently and it does feel good to get rid of pieces you do wear. And you don't even remember what you let go of so you don't miss it!

I remember when you were on the hunt for that blazer! It's looking great and I really love the color of your pants. I feel like I'm constantly trying to clear out my closet and get rid of things (even though my tendency is to hold onto things, just in case ;)
ReplyDeleteIt really does make sense to keep things in your closet that you truly love and sell/donate everything else. Now if I just had the time and the patience to go through my closet :) I adore this jacket on you and glad it made the cut.

Would love for you to stop by & join TBT Fashion link up.
You look chic. Black and blue pairings always makes me think of YSL, I think it's so signature for this brand. Blue is one of my favorite colors and I have soft spot for stripes as well as for thin strap high heel sandals. I would never thought those trousers are too tight, but I understand how you feel about creasing.

I hear ya. Those colored pants are so hard to find a good fit in! I think it is because you are looking for a specific shade and good fit. I really like the overall color combo and classic look here!
ReplyDeleteThe pants are such a great color, but it is a bummer they wrinkle so easily. Love the blazer!
ReplyDeleteI also love black with a bright cobalt or royal blue. That blazer is so much fun. Love its wide stripes.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend, Lydia!
Stripes go great with everything! Love this outfit, the cobalt is stunning.

I think that blazer is a wonderful piece. I recently did a purging session but only a few items donated, since I actually wear everything that I have in my closets. Have a great weekend. /Madison

What a fun little spring work outfit! I love the bold stripes of that blazer. I can't believe you haven't worn these pieces in so long! I've been going through my closet and purging a bunch of things that I don't particularly love or wear enough to keep to make room (and maybe some $$$) to pick up a few new spring things. I'm trying to be more critical, but it's hard! Especially when you think about the money you spent on all that stuff. Have you tried thredup?
ReplyDeleteThey're cute and I love the color. All the pieces together are so chic, but you should only keep things that make you feel amazing about yourself. Don't keep stuff you have to make excuses for.
