But my life doesn't always call for fancy, good hair days require a trifecta of perfect conditions, and my dates are more likely to include sitting at the bar of a Mexican restaurant at 3 p.m. (Sean and I have pretty much mastered never going out to eat at what is considered to be an actual meal time) than somewhere with table linens at 7 p.m.
Clinging desperately to my desire to be dressed up, I felt the least I could do was throw on my silver pumps with my sweatshirt and boyfriend denim...

I love the outfit! Indeed one cannot be dressy as always but still even when we are not always dressy we can still look fab.

I am all for perfect hair all the time - not that I am lucky to have it very often. But as for the rest, I have to admit that as I grow older I find myself gravitating more towards these kinds of put together casual styles. I still love a good lace dress, of course, but in the past few months especially I find I'm more inclined to put one on with clogs and an oversized hat then heels and a clutch; jeans, heels and slouchy sweaters (or, as it warms up, silk tank tops) seem to by my everyday go to. Maybe it's because I finally have the confidence to think I can pull it off. Make no mistake - putting on a dress and heels is easy, but there is an art to putting on jeans and heels and making it look stylish. Frankly, you seem to have mastered it :)

Haha, I love getting dolled up, too, and sometimes, just for the heck of it, throw on the best pair of shoes or bag I have to dress things up! I love the look, the shoes add the perfect amount of glam to the outfit, and I LOVE your bag!

I want to dress up every day, too! Alas, that rarely happens. But, I love your shoes! Such a pretty way to dress up a casual look :)
ReplyDeleteGreat top and shoes!
ReplyDeleteForget dressing up, I want to be THIS. Seriously, I want this whole outfit, complete with your effortless-chic top-knot. I like dressing up occasionally, but I'd much prefer to mix dressy with casual, pretty much exactly like you did here.
ReplyDeleteLove the casual look with those shoes!
ReplyDeleteI love dressing up too! This look is great, the sweatshirt is so cute! I'm stopping by from the Confident Twosday Linkup!

I love the silver pump/sweatshirt combo. I totally know what you mean. Sometimes I want to get dressed up just to wear my fun clothes not because the occasion actually calls for it.

Love your metallic heels with this outfit !I think wearing 'fancy' accessories or something that makes us feel a little special is a nice way to dress up, it doesn't have to be full formal wear for us to feel special and extra pretty :)
