Last week the department store chain Boscov's opened their 44th store, and first Connecticut location at the Westfield Meriden Mall. The store is still family owned and operated, since it's founding in 1914.
I was invited to take a tour of the store before their grand opening, which was October 10th, and it is simply a tremendous department store. The women's department is expansive and it was easy to spend a few hours getting lost amongst the bags and shoes. Boscov's kindly treated me to a gift card and when I spotted an incredibly soft brown faux suede jacket, I knew I'd found my piece.
In addition to all the departments you'd expect to find, Boscov's also has their own candy counter, where they stock an array of truffles and confections, including their own homemade fudge, which I sampled, perhaps a bit in excess!
Another unique feature of Boscov's is their auditorium, where for the remainder of the month you can see free performances from Shirley Jones and Elvis Aaron Presley Jr. They are also hosting their very own fashion week, which is kicking off October 25th!
The Boscov's store is simply gleaming, they are having a host of amazing grand opening sales, and every staff member I encountered was friendly and excited to help. If you are in the Meriden Connecticut area, Boscov's would be the perfect place to get all your Christmas shopping done, as they off free gift wrapping for your purchases!
Many thanks to Boscov's for inviting me to this event; as always my views and opinions are my own.

You had me at candy counter! Honestly, I love department stores and especially smaller local ones that have continued to operate despite stiff competition from places like Nordstrom and Macy's. Especially now, when online shopping is really king, it's so encouraging to see those local or regional stores continue to grow and expand. It looks like you had so much fun exploring the store and I can't wait to see your new jacket!

I'd never heard of this store and the candy counter reminds me of the Mexican department store Sanborns… you feel like a little kid all over again :)
ReplyDeleteOh the Betsey Johnson bags are so much fun!
I'm surprised there's only 44 stores! I grew up in a small town and there's a boscovs in our mall so I thought every mall had one...haha.
