Countdown

The end of December is filled with countdowns. Four days to Christmas, to getting all that shopping and wrapping and baking and cleaning done. Then just as soon as it's over, we start counting down the last days of the year. We plan more celebrations, we countdown the final minutes. We look for fresh starts and new beginnings. We think about what we could do better next year.

We plan, we imagine possibilities, and then we find ourselves counting down, all over again.

    Countdowns are such a strange thing. When I was a teenager, one my best friends was perpetually in countdown mode - "Ten days till Christmas" "Thirty days till summer vacation" etc., etc. It wound up really putting me off looking ahead that way because I watched her miss out on so many things that were happening in the moment. But it is hard at this time of year not to be swept up in the countdown spirit of things. Personally, I'm more focussed on how much more time I have to wear all of my coats before the weather warms up again! I love this beige one on you.

    Oh man, isn't that the truth! All the countdowns--we're always rushing around for something. It's always "after Christmas I'll do this" or "I'll start that after the new year"... It's exciting though, and I love it :)
    Oh, and I've got some major boot-envy happening over here!

    I am barely making it this year .. I cannot even imagine countdown or even making plans for next year. This year, at the end, proved to be quite surprising and for me eye opening in many ways. While I don't know here i stand or what I am to do... well, the world keeps turning.
