The Tea Garden was a delight, and while I initially balked at the entrance fee, the garden was so meticulously manicured I could easily see how a good deal of money would be needed for it's up keep.
As you can see, it was clear and sunny while we were at the Tea Garden, but as we headed up to Golden Gate Bridge, that completely changed! When we arrived, not one speck of the massive bridge was visible, it was completely swallowed up by the fog.
I had to laugh as I watched other tourists proceed to take photos in front of the invisible bridge. Since we came to see Golden Gate, we decided to make the small trek down to Warming Hut, get a coffee by the window and keep an eye on the fog.
Eventually it started to clear, and we started to hike back up to a more ideal photo location. At about the midpoint the fog actually started to roll back in again, and by the time we'd made it all the way back to the start the bridge had once again disappeared!
I'm happy I was able to snap a few good photos while the fog was subsiding, I think it adds a bit of magic.

I don't know if we'll have time to make it to the Japanese Garden this weekend, but on a longer trip, it's definitely on my must visit list in San Francisco. Like any tourist, I'm most concerned about getting Golden Gate Bridge photos - I have the perfect location all picked out but, just like anywhere, it's all weather dependent. I admit, though, that I am hoping for just a bit of fog, because I feel like the bridge looks just magical when it appears to be suspended in mid air over nothing at all! The one shot you got is just stunning.

Incredible photos! Love the bridge and the fog!
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely gorgeous! I always balk at the price of things, especially gardens to just be able to walk around, but hat seems completely worth it!
