First things first, Jessica and Amazon Prime pretty much made me buy these shoes, and if your size is in stock, they are pretty deeply discounted, so perhaps you should too. (I went with my normal size.)

Secondly, these are not my sunglasses, they are Sean's, however I think they look really good on me, and demanded to wear them for these outfit photos.

Third, it's still really hot out, and I'm super happy about that. The fact that it's going to be September this week makes me want to cry, but at least I can wear my mini dresses for the foreseeable future, which is 10 days.

Friday five under $50

It is the last weekend in August, and I'm attempting to bring back posts focused on some, you know, affordable things I'm liking at the moment. To be perfectly honest, these kinds of posts are the hardest for me because I get terribly distracted. I look through a lot of items trying to find a theme and keep with the price point and before you know it, it's past midnight and I barely have half the post put together.

But I am going to try, and since my mind could not be farther from fall, but the fashion world demands it, I think these would be some fabulous pieces to start wearing now and then transition into the cooler weather. Especially that bag, which is from Old Navy and it's going to take a lot of will power for me to not buy it right now.

The perfect match

I ran into TJMaxx the other day to pick up a couple things I needed from the housewares section (they have the prettiest bottles of dish soap) and I wouldn't say that I deliberately went 20 minutes before closing so that I wouldn't be tempted to shop in any other departments, but if I had, I would have failed.

No sooner did I walk through the door than did I see this white eyelet lace skirt. No other ones like it around, not even with the other skirts, like it was sitting there just waiting for me. Same brand as the top I wore in Tuesday's post, a perfect match. For $30, how could I leave without it? And that lemon verbena dish soap - amazing.

Weekend waves

Over the weekend I went to the Milford Connecticut Oyster Festival, an occasion I deemed just right to bring out the hip bag. I always appreciate that the festival books real bands rather than cover bands for the entertainment, and this year The Blue Oyster Cult played. Admittedly I knew only two of their songs, but they played well and I enjoyed the show. The only downside is that standing room only at 2:00 p.m. under the hot sun is not very fun. I'm not sure why they don't have the bands go on in the evening, in fact the whole thing, carnival rides, food, vendors and all is wrapped up by 6:00 p.m. the same day. So naturally after the festival, since it was still plenty early, we got ice cream, and I 'snuck' on to this private beach for some outfit photos.

Summer date night

Little white dresses beg for summer nights dining on the patio, and even though I knew it was humid as ever, I still insisted on straightening my hair. I'm convinced you can see it getting increasingly frizzy throughout the photos, and by the end of the night the only thing left to do was surrender to the messy bun. Sometimes my expectations of my hair don't match reality, but at least my expectations of the dinner did. Tasty cocktails, savory entrees, white linen table cloths and the glow of the patio lights. With the end of August sneaking up on me, I need to make the most of it.
