I remember this Loft tee very distinctly; head over heels for the gorgeous turquoise floral, very lukewarm on the awkward rolled hem on the sleeves. I had ordered it online and subsequently returned it.
Earlier this summer in passing I spied the top on a woman and was reminded of how much I liked it. Shortly thereafter I went to bring a few things to the consignment store, and since I lacked the willpower not to browse, I just so happened to find the top, in a petite medium, which fit me perfectly.
I decided to overlook the odd rolled hem sleeves.
Lately I've been thinking I should challenge myself to a few months of only thrift shopping. I know my online shopping habits have been a little out of hand these past few weeks. I'm guiltiest of making purchases on my phone while at work - the excitement of shopping mingled with 'sneaking' away from work for a few minutes to help propel me through my day needs to stop. I used to make near weekly trips to my favorite thrift stores, always seeking those gems among the refuse. It might be fun to embrace that again, and give my poor UPS man (and poor wallet) a break.

I have always admired your thrifting skills. I was actually in a consignment shop last night but I always hesitate before taking the plunge - most of the brands I want to buy are still expensive secondhand so it doesn't make sense not to buy the pieces new, and I'm utterly incapable of searching for gems. Really, it's embarrassing. So I'd love to see you attempt this challenge, because if this top is any indication, I think it could be amazing.

I have the opposite problem. I have to force myself to stay out of the thrift stores because I don't need anything else, but when it's "such a bargain" I can't stop myself!
ReplyDeleteLove that top! Such a great color! And I love how perfectly the ring matches!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yea, I need to just stop shopping all together. Bought some stuff on Everlane just now but I used advertising money and they were basics....PLUS on sale, haha...

I've also been thinking lately about going on a thrifting only shopping plan for a while. I don't thrift nearly as much as I used to and I miss it!

Judging by this experience---it would be interesting to only thrift! Most of the time, you can certainly find some fabulous items for a lot less!!
ReplyDeleteI can see why you liked the shirt so much---the colors are fabulous!!

That top is such a pretty find, and I love how it stands out against your white shorts.
ReplyDeleteI've thought about doing that too--there are a few thrift & consignment shops around here that I haven't been to in so long. I did just place a big ThredUp order too and it reminded me just how much awesome used stuff is out there.
Oh I totally understand why you would lust that top - it is beautiful and I love the color on you.
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to hold back on shopping but you know how that turns out...
