Not going into stores was the biggest change I made to curb my shopping, along with unsubscribing from every eBay saved search, every store email and constantly having to mentally berate myself every time I started browsing my favorite virtual shops.
Naturally you might be wondering what I have to post for closet additions... well I had a Christmas gift to exchange and I got some pretty new flats from Banana Republic - I did not spend any of my other gift cards, as I decided that still counts as shopping, but since this was an exchange I made an exception.
There were also some belated holiday celebrations, so I thought I'd include those presents, along with gifted items, as I've done in the past.

Congratulations on successfully going a month without shopping! It isn't easy, especially if the act of shopping - going to stores or browsing online ones - is a hobby. But it is doable, and now that you have done it for a month, I'm sure it will become easier with every passing day. Of course it also doesn't hurt being a blogger, even in slow months likely January there is often something new that arrives as a surprise in your mailbox, something that still never fails to brighten my day (until I have to figure out where to actually store it in my home, that is.)

I think it's good to do these type of challenges. I don't shop every month for fashion or beauty, but I do splurge on travel and fine dining. Lately, since we are renovating, my budget is mostly into home decor. Those boots are gorgeous!

Lydia, I am so proud of you! I didn't buy makeup all of January. I'm trying for February, but I don't know. LOL Love the things you exchanged for.

ReplyDeleteI am so impressed you didn't shop in January!! But you should totally spend the gift cards - you aren't spending YOUR money so that totally doesn't count (uh oh, am I enabling? )
