2017 is the year that I accept that all things are possible with intention and belief.
I can't spend another year like that. I need to find my happiness again. I'm starting off with a shopping ban, which I'll take three months at a time. Lorena is joining me. While shopping has always been an activity I've enjoyed, I think eliminating it for a bit will be refreshing, and force me to focus my energy on things that will better my life.
I need to take responsibility for my own happiness, I need to ask for what I want, I need to make positive changes. Everything I've read about changing your attitude mentions using affirmations, so I'm going to start sharing them daily, even if only for my own benefit.
Happy New Year Everyone!

I completely understand. Some years can be SO hard. I like thinking we all get a fresh start each year and opportunity to look at things in a new light. I wish you luck with that and with your shopping ban! I love this beautiful outfit on you and bright pink lip! The heels look fabulous with it!
ReplyDeleteSometimes, a fresh perspective and a fresh start is so needed - even if chronologically, today is just another day, today is another day and a fresh chance to be better. 2016 was hard for so many people for so many reasons. I'm generally a pretty even person, emotion-wise, but I shed a lot of tears this year; some of them very legitimate, others that left me feeling pretty silly. The one thing that I think really saved me was exercise. I didn't set any intentions to make 2016 be the year that I improved my fitness; it happened entirely by accident, starting in approximately May, but it was the one thing that forced me to push through the really bad days because it showed me how much I was capable of, even on days when I felt totally powerless. I hope that this year, you find something that has the same impact on your life. And I do hope the shopping ban helps you to refocus; when I did it years ago, it changed the way I looked at my wardrobe completely and in that respect, I've never been happier.

ReplyDeleteI love the colors in this outfit and that vintage coat is amazing! I can be so hard to make positive changes when we don't feel happy. Sounds like you have a great plan. I hope the shopping ban helps!

2016 was a year of ups and lows for you Lydia bur you survived them. That dress is so soft, feminine, pretty and gorgeous - great pastel shade and pretty style. Love it with the lush navy fur coat. A great outfit for the perfect New Year's party and I need to join you and Lorena in the shopping ban. Actually I plan for 2017 to be the year I shop the least. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteWelcome by and check out my top 9 looks of 2016. I'd love to see what you think. Thanks and a Very Happy New Year, indeed. =)
Amen my friend! All of this really resonated with me, and if you read my new post you'll see why. I spent most of last year depressed and crying, being so negative that I couldn't function. I'm so sorry you were experiencing something similar. I hope that this year is better for the both of us. We can do this! We can take responsibility for our own happiness :)

Oh Lydia, looks like your year was a lot like mine. In my case it went by so damn fast. Yet so slow. If you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteRegardless I think you are shining in that dress and the blue hues are perfectly matching the gold accents.
May 2017 be filled with gold accents too. Hugs.
PS I'm behind but I will also be posting on the 3 month ban, BTW I just read in Mica's blog that she will do a 6 month ban.
