I find enjoyment in the simplest things in life.
I feel like I am forever playing catch-up, never quite being able to get ahead, or stay there for more than a moment. But I suppose that is the nature of life, and I need to get out of the mindset that I am behind - perhaps I am exactly where I need to be. If that means some nights I need to go to bed early and don't get a blog post up, that is okay. If I never manage to schedule Instagram posts for the week, that is okay too.
Appreciating the little moments in my day, like my morning coffee, or how good I feel after going to my exercise class knowing that this week I could do something I could not do last week, or stopping to buy myself a grocery store bouquet, just because, gives me joy.

ReplyDeleteAnd yea, sometimes I feel like I'm behind and everything is snowballing. But then I realize that it doesn't really matter in the long run, just go with the flow!

When I transitioned back from blogging professionally to blogging for fun, I really struggled with the idea that I wasn't doing enough, was always behind, etc., etc. There was a time when I considered giving up entirely. But in the end, it did just come down to changing my mindset, accepting what I could do and more importantly, what I realistically couldn't. That change took time, and there are definitely still moments when I'm not where I want to be, but overall, acceptance has been the best thing I could do for myself and my sanity. (And the endorphins from a good workout always help with that, too!)

Love the thought behind this. Maybe I'm not behind with everything I need to do as well! I am right where I need to be! Your red heels look lovely with this classic outfit! What a fabulous statement coat!
ReplyDeleteLife really is all about the small moments. I have to remind myself all the time to live in the moment. Love this look, your jacket is amazing!

I love the leopard coat and the pop of color from your shoes! We can't be too hard on ourselves when we don't get a blog or Instagram post up. Life goes on and everyone who reads totally understands. One thing that I've found very helpful in shifting that mindset is writing down 3 things I'm grateful for every day. Sometimes it is as small as having time to get a delicious cup of coffee, but it has really helped me shift my mindset and focus on the great things happening in life (even when it sometimes doesn't feel like it!)

I hate feeling like I'm behind on things and yet I somehow always feel that way. It's probably why I'm crazy into making lists, etc - it's literally the only way I can semi-hold my sanity.

I ALWAYS feel that way! But it's in those slow and simple moments to myself that I really enjoy the calm. This outfit is just so classic-love!

Love the leopard print coat! Also, I think that letting go of the idea of being behind and accepting that you're where you're supposed to be is beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteI keep a gratitude journal of happy moments that occur throughout my day, so I can always remind myself that there are good things happening all around, even when I'm stressed and having a bad day! Hope you have a nice weekend, and I love this look!

Totally understand what you are talking about. I don't feel too motivated to go out and take pictures at all this time of year. And then it just gets overwhelming with deadlines, quickie shoots etc. But then I remember life isn't necessarily about photo shoots and commenting on 100 blogs it's about the small things and taking the time to enjoy what is going on around you! Love your coat and hope you have one great weekend!

Love the red shoes with the leopard print coat! :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean too - I took some time off over Christmas from bloggy stuff, to just relax and enjoy the summer. I was feeling behind and like I had to play catch up and then the boys nap times changed so I barely have enough time to do anything, never mind catching up. But like you said, it's not that important, we are where we need to be and real life will always come over blog stuff. I'm still kinda managing to get posts out on time. I miss my 2 weeks of pre-scheduled posts though, hopefully I'll get back to it one day, haha!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend :)

Truly stunning jacket Lydia! Looks awesome on you. I also love your Kate Spade bag. It's so sharp and I love the tassel. I can only imagine how challenging it can be to take outfit photos during the Winter. Lighting is everything and can be so difficult. But you're a pro! Your pictures always turn out well.
