I dare to put my mind, emotions and actions to work for what I want in my life.
Taking stock. It's become apparent during this shopping ban of mine that not only do I have an overflowing closet, but ten things I've purchased since September haven't even worn yet. It's got me wondering if my perception of my style and the things I want to wear when I get up in the morning have fallen out of alignment.
Before the end of the month I'm committing to two things: going through my closet, actually trying things on and deciding if they are worth keeping, and wearing all ten of those items, staring with these velvet pants. I purchased them the day before Thanksgiving with the intent of wearing them on the holiday, but between cooking and family drama, I never bothered to change out of my jeans.
I do like these pants however, they are stretchy and comfortable and of course velvet - current sizes are limited, but they are currently on sale.

Good to hear you're still sticking to your shopping ban. Love how you styled the velvet pants, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, ten things you've bought since September and haven't worn? I have to say, the one way I always know if my shopping is in check is if I wear new things within a week - or have to hold myself back from wearing them within the first week because I want them to be fresh and unwrinkled for photos (because I loathe ironing.) These velveteen pants are stunning and definitely deserve more wear!

Wooohoooo velvet pants! Yea, I definitely have way more than I need, definitely need to do a closet purge. But I know I won't want to get rid of stuff, haha

I know the feeling. A shopping ban is always helpful. Love your pants and the entire look. Very chic and as always, so stylish!

I think that's a really solid plan for moving forward (and I seriously adore those pants...they are just amazing).

I recently did that, and actually had a friend with great style join -- it's amazing how you can quickly purge!

Yay for wearing your velvet trousers... I have yet to wear mine ;)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, I have been finding items in the closet that I had totally forgotten about. I have also seen that some of the things I pick to wear have tiny holes or have tears, like two items I wore last week.
I am happy that I have not purchased anything in this month+ as its been giving me time to do some well need closet introspection.
Okay, Lydia...it's a little scary that you wrote this today. Because I was just saying to my husband yesterday, that I still have a couple of things that I bought in December, that I haven't even worn yet!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about getting these pants when my mom & I were at Old Navy awhile ago, but I was really worried that they velvet would wear off between my thighs??? The strange things I think about before I buy something....ha ha!!
This look is gorgeous! I'm glad you finally got around to wearing these pants! They'll be perfect for V-Day!

this outfit is so rich, love these colors on you. Good luck with the ban, I'm curbed my shopping a lot and completely cleaned out my closet and it feels so good. So I say do it.

I think trying on everything when you clean out your closet is a great idea! I did that last summer and while it gave me the confidence to get rid of a lot of things, I also rediscovered a few pieces that I forgot I had and actually love. I would get a friend involved for an impartial opinion and make an afternoon of it. On a fashion note, this color palette looks great on you!

I'm a fan of the Pixie Pants, and I love your velvet pair!
ReplyDeleteThese velvet pants are beautiful. Definitely a keeper.

That top is gorgeous and I love those velvet pants! I did a shopping ban last year and it really changed the way I shop. It made me reflect on why I want to purchase things in the first place and made me appreciate things currently in my closet.

I love your velvet pants! Sounds like you have good plans to take stock of things this month. I know what you mean though. I am finding, especially in this season of life, it is important to buy things I know I will actually use.

This is such a worthy cause, lady- I need to take a thorough look at my closet, too! Digging these velvet pants- although I'm a total velvet apologist, so I might be biased. ;)

I have similar pants I need to pull out! They look gorgeous with shades of pink!
ReplyDeleteThey look great on you Lydia! I had a pair of jeans (velvet) in that color, but I just didn't know what to do with them. LOL They never seemed to work with the things I had, nor could I find anything. I sold them. LOL Yes, work through the things in your closet to see if you want them or not. I do this periodically.
