I am full of infinite, creative energy.
While I've been on my shopping ban this winter I kept myself from doing something I've been guilty of every winter for the past eight years - buying a new coat.Coats always felt like an indulgence I deserved. I have to suffer through winters that linger on far too long, so having a bountiful coat wardrobe seemed necessary. Plus there was the blog to think of - I'm too much of a whimp to constantly go without a coat, but I wouldn't want a month of posts cycling through the same couple of coats.
Sometimes they were thrifted, sometimes gifted, but they have always persisted.
I feel like I'm digging into the archives when I pull out my houndstooth coat, which I purchased from Kohl's eight years ago. Though the style is classic, and it feels just as appropriate today as it did when I bought it. I've linked a few similar styles below, though this Kate Spade coat is definitely my favorite!

I think that houndstooth jacket is a great piece --- I usually treat myself to a new jacket every winter as well because, even though I am a fan of winter, it does last for a good 6 months here and it's nice have to a new coat to get through that length of time.

I was kind of sad that houndstooth wasn't as prevalent this year! I think it's such a PRETTY pattern that is just only right in the midst of a bleak winter!

Even when I don't see houndstooth at the retail stores--I still think it's such a classic print!! And you really can't go wrong with black & white!!
ReplyDeleteI'm very guilty of buying too many coats! This year I bought a brown leather one---but at least where we live--we wear them lots!!

It was definitely a great buy 8 years ago! And I love it paired with those boots of yours. Such a pretty gray!
ReplyDeleteThat's like me and wanting a new bathing suit every summer even though I rarely wear the ones I have, hah! (Opposite of coats I guess since those actually DO get worn, but whatever)

Indeed a classic and of course you know this is one of my favourite prints, I'd borrow this from you ;)
ReplyDeleteAt this point I have too many of everything. I have a feeling sometimes that its me in fear of missing out.
Oh forgot to add, that I do not have too may coats !!! Maybe 2 or 3.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about houndstooth that makes it such a classic? I love how well this coat ties in your outfit and -- as always -- I'm BEYOND impressed at the prices!!

Cute outfit! I used to have a coat like that but donated it because it was starting to look a bit raggedy :(

I can totally see why coats as something you indulge in. I love them, and I don't even live in your cold climate. They make winter wardrobes more fun and bearable. I love this one. Perfect with those amazing boots!

This coat is a classic- and I'm totally with you, I justify every coat purchase (despite the fact my coat closet is stuffed to the max) because of the fact I have to endure the winter, haha.

Coats are absolutely my weakness. For a number of years I had only one, but once I started buying them, they became a kind of addiction - when my parents came to visit in the fall, my dad looked at my closet, appalled, counting up all the coats. He found ten. I had to admit there were more hidden elsewhere. After that, I abstained from buying a new one this year, though I used the money I had saved for a new leather jacket instead - since the ones I had owned were vegan, this seemed more justifiable. All that said, a good coat collection is a wonderful thing and I love that you had an opportunity to dig this one our of your closet!

There's something so lovely about buying a new coat, especially, when it's the main feature of your outfit... as it is, most winters. Brrr! And I absolutely love your houndstooth coat and the way you've styled is absolutely perfect too. Down to every last detail!! xo

I've always been a fan of houndstooth and your coat is so classic! I like how you added some lighter colors to make it transition to spring, too.

I am the opposite of you here. Even though winter takes up a fairly good chunk of time here too (most years at least) for some reason I hate buying new coats. I usually end up wearing the same one over and over again. I don't know why that is!
ReplyDeleteThe Houndstooth is so beautiful. Printed very well. Nice photos. cupshe clothing coupons
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling all too well! It's hard not to shop at the beginning of a new season.
ReplyDeleteThis houndstooth print is so pretty - a perfect classic you will wear for years!
