I accept that I have the ability to change the direction of my life.
I don't wear this pleated maxi skirt too often, even with my best efforts to dress it down (this not being my best) it still feels fancier than my life demands. I suppose I could argue that part of the reason I started this blog was to give myself a reason to put more effort into my daily outfits than I might otherwise. Even still, after church, breakfast, and these photos (on a day we walked, despite the spring chill) I swapped the skirt for a pair of joggers, the blazer for an oversized cardigan, and resumed my true homebody nature.

I've been seeing these pleated skirts, and think they are so feminine. I haven't seen one as a maxi yet though. Do you think that's the reason you don't wear it much?? Would you wear it more if it were shorter possibly? Because it's right on trend and such a pretty color!!!

Such a pretty look for church.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, I have pieces that feel too dressy even when I try to dress them down. But at least we have the bog for them ;)

I am obsessed with your pretty maxi! I have a similar one in a darker shade of pink that I need to break out asap!

It seems to me that, for people with regular lives, this kind of skirt was made for a morning at church or an evening at a distant cousin's wedding - for both of which, it is perfect, but after both of which, we are grateful to change into some version of sweatpants, because let's face it, the enjoyment of a beautiful skirt diminishes with every passing hour, no matter how lovely it is. Some things are meant to be worn for a short time and appreciated during it, then lovingly hung back up, and there is nothing wrong with that :)

Well even if you wore it briefly Lydia, you wore it beautifully ! I love this skirt and with the flowers on the ground ... like you, I have garments that are not meant for the life I have. Like a sequinned Burberry dress I bought recently.-
ReplyDeleteEven if you changed out of it after a time it's still such a wonderfully pretty outfit that a short wear is better than none. I think we all tend to just naturally gravitate towards the comfortable and functional!

These are some insanely beautiful photos Lydia! I wish we had cherry blossoms here, or anything resembling this! I love the outfit too. That skirt is gorgeous! A good maxi is a must for the season.
ReplyDeleteThat maxi skirt is beautiful! I didn't think I would find much use of mine and you'd be surprised how versatile it can be! Your photos are gorgeous too!

These photos are so beautiful. That outfit is wonderful, and I actually have a skirt quite similar to what you're wearing. The location here is so gorgeous, I'm jealous haha.

I agree with you, that skirt is so delicate. But so pretty too! I can't get enough of that pink!
