Fabulous in a Flash

The other weekend I went to see the play "Barefoot in the Park" at The Kate theater in Old Saybrook, CT. The show was wonderful, just non-stop laughter, and the theater was so small and intimate, even in the balcony, I felt really close to the stage.

While I know it's not typical these days to get very dressed up for a show, in my mind it still stands, and nothing could be more simple to throw on than a maxi dress, for the maximum amount of chicness. The last time I wore this dress it was to my sister's college graduation, so it was long overdue for a wear.

I feel like I've spent a fair amount of time complaining that there isn't enough to do in Connecticut, but when I stop to actually look around, there is quite a bit! We have several theaters, and now that New Haven has College Street Music Hall, lots of really great bands are playing there. I actually bought tickets to three upcoming shows, Oh Wonder in September, Phoenix in October, and Regina Spektor in November. Now I just need to plan a day to attend Goat Yoga and ride the Elm City Party Bike!

  1. It sounds like there is a lot to do near you - and a lot of good bands coming to play! I would love to see Phoenix live. I think we are all guilty of thinking there isn't much to do near us because figuring out what there is to do often requires us to seek things out which, in the internet age, seems unfamiliar. I'm working on getting better at it myself, although with mixed results. On a fashion-related note, this dress is gorgeous and was definitely due for a re-wear. The theatre is a wonderful excuse to dress up, I think, even if no one else bothers to!

  2. Oh that maxi dress is beautiful glad you could get it out for a wear again! :) I really like that green bag with it too.

Sometimes when we think there isn't much on a lot seems to come along all at once - summer is a good time for everything happening at the same time, so it's nice you could take advantage and book so many events! :)

Hope you are having a lovely start to the week :)

  5. I always gets quasi dressed up to attend things like the opera, so I am 100% with you on the idea of dressing up a bit for live performances, etc. It just feels right to me. And this maxi dress was a really good choice for the play - it's a really stunning dress and looks amazing on you. It has a really "light" feeling to it.

And yea, there's a lot to do here if you like those types of things, haha. I'm weird and don't like most of it.
