Big plans for the day were dropping off donations and coffee with my mom. Not a scenario which requires a dress, heels, or the world's most impractical handbag. But I wanted to feel good, and I really wanted to wear this dress, which is actually my mom's. She wore it only once and it's been languishing in her closet ever since. Recently I was contemplating getting a kimono when I thought of this dress. It's a shirt dress so it can be worn open, and the Japanese inspired print easily makes the jump to kimono. I simply had to borrow it!

That's a gorgeous dress - I'm really glad you were able to give it a second life. Being mostly at home with Eleanor except for little bursts when I have appointments, etc, I take full advantage of my brief times out without her (if she's with me I had to ask myself when I dress "what will happen if she spits up on me" so a lot of things don't get worn) to dress to the nines...just because I can!

If this outfit makes you feel good, there's no reason not to wear it, not matter what activity you may have on your agenda for the day. I love that this dress is actually your mom's and you managed to turn your desire for a kimono on its head by borrowing a dress instead - that is the definition of smart shopping, in my book! Plus, this dress is absolutely gorgeous and deserves to be worn rather than languishing in a closet, so I feel like you did it a good service :)
