With Christmas fast approaching, and the list of things to get done seeming to only get longer, it's all too easy to fall into bad habits of staying up too late and over extending. Taking out some time for self care is important, and I think it's okay to treat yourself to a little indulgence. I've been wanting to try out the Sunday Riley cleanser for a while because of its rave reviews, but have been worried about falling into a $45 face wash habit - right now I feel like the $10 I spend on my drugstore brand is already a lot!
I'd also love to try out the Shhhowercap, as someone who doesn't wash their hair everyday, I'd love one that isn't going to get gross and mildew after a few wears, but again, that feels truly like a splurge.
This weekend I plan on giving myself time for a DIY manicure, and I'm booking a facial for next week - I know I haven't wrapped a single gift, still need to finish up my shopping, and have a lot of baking I'd like to do, but I also don't want to lose sight of what is important about the holidays, and let self-imposed demands come before spending time with family and friends or taking care of myself.

This holiday season has been very busy for me in a different way than usual - in past years it's all been photo shoots and press events; this year, it's been nothing but family. I've just managed to finish my shopping (I think) but my wrapping is nowhere near done. I don't bake much but what I do will probably not happen until Christmas Eve, to be honest. And you know what? I've decided I'm okay with that. I've booked myself a hair appointment, I'll get my nails done and, if possible, I'll try not to stress too much - although that's always easier said than done.

Self care is always important! I've been wanting to try out a few colors and give myself a manicure forever. Hopefully I can do that this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect time for a self care day. With all the holiday stress, I know I need it!

That kimono is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI really, really need to investing more in time and little luxuries for myself. I've been terrible for that since Eleanor came along. But it's probably much healthier for me to actually make an effort to make time for me! Also, I do it just to have a kimono as awesome as the one you feature here.

Thanks for the reminder about self care during this time of year! I definitely need to take some time for myself even if it is just a face mask when wrapping presents or giving myself a mani!
ReplyDeleteI love that you are dedicating time to yourself! I really should do this! I am intrigued by the 'get happy' body wash. Maybe it is the packaging, but it already puts me in a good mood haha.

You're so right, it is easy to get wrapped up in all the goings-on and forget to stop and take care of yourself. I'm not sure if it's self care, but I get to where I just can't keep up on social media, etc. and so I just take little breaks when I start to feel overwhelmed. I need to do more pampering though I think--I love that robe!
ReplyDeleteI agree - it's important to take time for yourself at any point in the year, but even more so at Christmas time, there is a lot going on you need to feel rested and ready to face! I'm organised with most of my presents but I still have 2 that have not shown up as expected so I'm hoping they do in the next couple of days!
ReplyDeleteI say buy your splurges too - it's Christmas! :)

Self-care is hard but so important like you said. Especially tough in busy seasons. These all sound like good things!

I've never spent that much money on a shower cap, but I am in need of a new/better one.
