When I look at my last two ID photos, the clothes I wore in them just feel like who I was at the time. A snippet of what was important, and how I identified my style. I deliberated for a while over what I should choose this time, and finally landed on the perfect blouse that would represent my identity for the next six years. Due to security issues, licenses are no longer issued the same day, but mailed. When my new license arrived I was crestfallen, while I look okay in the photo, you can see no sliver of my neck or shoulders, not even the tiniest glimpse of the carefully thought out blouse. But here it is, a blue and white silk floral blouse by Joie, purchased at Coco's on the Green, the piece I chose that feels important to my style identity right now.

I have to get my license renewed this year and I always try to think about what to wear (and the colored background) too! We use our licenses for so much I want it to look decent. Too bad your blouse didn't show in the photos. It's gorgeous! I love it with the red shoes. I think you've inspired my casual Friday outfit this week!
ReplyDeleteLove that blouse! Such a shame that it's not really in the photo. But you'll know it's there! I'm boring and I just wear plain tshirts, haha.

It's too bad that it didn't make it into the photo as it really is stunning and just so light feeling. I got my license renewed recently and wound up just sticking with the current photo and not asking them to retake it because I just felt so "blah" that day.

Ok so it wasn't just me that thought the photos look too zoomed in! They really did just capture only the face! That blouse is gorgeous and it would have been fun to see a glimpse of it just so you can reminisce about who you are at that point of your life.

Super cute top and I love your trench coat!!
ReplyDeleteI love CoCo’s and that blouse looks so nice on you. Shame on CT DMV!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blouse! Love the blue and white!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! FYI- if you go to AAA they can do 99% of the same stuff the dmv can! I haven’t been inside a dmv in years! Even if you’re not a member you can go, there’s just a small extra charge.
ReplyDeleteNice and Perfect looking outfit..
ReplyDeleteLove this blouse, so pretty!!

NEW POST: TOUS DÍA DE LA MADRE
This cracked me up because I did the SAME thing when I had to get a new license this year. I was like what is the PERFECT outfit that will last of year and blah, blah, blah and then I get my license in the mail and literally there is ZERO of my outfit in the photo!!

bummer your blouse didn't show because this is such a cute and classic look.

That is such a beautiful blouse, I really like the trench coat as an extra layer with it, and the fun pop of red from your flats :)
ReplyDeleteI deliberated with what to wear for my license too, and found the same as you - you can't even see what I was wearing, so I worried over nothing! I'm sure if I hadn't thought about it you'd be able to see my clothing choice in the photo though, that's the way life usually works, ha!
Hope you are having a lovely week so far :) We have got some autumn weather here at last so I'm excited I've gotten to layer up a little!

My experience getting my Manitoba license was very similar. In BC, licenses renew every five years, and I just got a new picture last year. After five years with a photo I hated, my new license actually looked pretty good. But when we moved, I was forced to replace it... less than a year later. When my new photo came in the mail, I was hopeful but ultimately disappointed, because it seems to bear so little resemblance to the person I think of myself as being. And I will be stuck with it for the next five years. But at least you got to capture this blouse with the lovely spring blooms, they really are a perfect match!

That is a gorgeous blouse, what a bummer that it didn't show up in the photo! I also had to get my license renewed last month and I'll be curious to see if I have that issue as well (mine hasn't come in the mail yet). I love this look and have similar pieces--I think I'm going to have to recreate it!
ReplyDeleteI love that you think of your past licenses as style time capsules!! So creative! And I love the outfit you have on :) Super cute shirt with awesome shoes to match!
ReplyDeleteI feel like they've started taking license pictures in EXTREME close-up mode! I could totally see my top in my first few licenses, but my latest one is all face, lol.
ReplyDeleteI do love this blouse, though- such a pretty piece!

Even though the top did not appear in the picture I think that you went there with the right attitude ! My licence picture is hideous but my Id one i can live with !
ReplyDeleteLove the blouse! Last time i got my license renewed, i was hoping they would keep my old picture but they didn’t. I had put no thought into my appearance but fortunately it came out good. LOL!
ReplyDeleteGetting a new license is a pain, love all the accessories with the blouse, looks great!
