When the evidence on Instagram implied that the trees were finally blooming, we headed to Lyman Orchards on a Friday evening. The weather was perfect, and we traipsed through the tall grass and hid among the blooms. Much unlike the orchards in the fall, we were completely alone, and it felt like a different world.
It took me quite a while to slog through the editing of these photos. We shot for nearly two hours and I ended up with 600 or so photos to sort through. Narrowing them down was a task, editing made very difficult by my now nearly 10 year old MacBook Pro. Lightroom just unexpectedly quits left and right. So I took my time with the editing, and I could not be happier. I love how these photos came out, and easily could have posted five times as many.
Lets hope Apple announces they are updating their MacBooks later this morning so I can finally upgrade!

These turned out amazing, Lydia!!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand having so many photos. My hubby used to take about 500 for each photo shoot with the three of us, and there was NO way I could edit them all. However, lately he's been only taking about 100, so it's been much easier!! Except my mom makes funny faces most of the time...LOL!!

I spotted one of these photos on instagram and absolutely fell in love - what a gorgeous shoot! It's too cold in Manitoba for apple trees to grow, except for crab apples, so this is something I could never recreate which makes me love it all the more - it's so far out of my reach that it really does almost seem magical. I love the way the print of your dress subtly coordinates with the blooms, and your oversized straw hat really is perfect.

These are such beautiful photos, I never thought of going to the orchard in the summer, brilliant! Love that net bag as well :)

Such pretty photos!! Gotta love being there with no people! The last time I went there it was supppper crowded, haha. (That was like 5 years ago though)

These photos really are stunning - it would have taken me seriously forever to edit from 600 down to these few but you made some truly lovely selections. It's just a dreamy backdrop and the lighting looks so perfect.

Oh wow I think it was so worth your time and effort on editing Lydia, these photos are gorgeous!! The setting is so pretty and your outfit works perfectly with it. Good luck with your macbook, I hope you get that update! Dealing with slow/ineffective technology is no fun--my computer is fine but my problem is our ridiculously slow internet.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are all stunning! I love that maxi dress on you too! I have a couple that fit similarly and they are so easy and comfortable to wear!
ReplyDeleteSo many cute pictures! What a great place to shoot. And I love your dress.

Your dress is beautiful, as are these photos! You got so many amazing shots, although I can only imagine how hard it would be to go through 600 photos to find the perfect ones! I only take a few each morning and it's time consuming going through them - I tend to do it in batches, as I usually write and schedule posts in batches too so that works for me :)
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a lovely start to the week! :)

What beautiful spring photos! These are so picture perfect with the colors, prints, and light - I can see why you had so much trouble picking shots! I never have that much time for photos anymore but do try to visualize what I can and snap away. Bonus points if it works, especially with hyperactive kids!
ReplyDeleteYou always do a great job editing your photos. That pretty maxi matches the beautiful apple orchard background. Such dreamy photos, Lydia. =)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous maxi Lydia and I could not agree more: the pictures turned out amazing ! What a great place for shooting although 2 hours is a lot of time !!! Then again there is yet another reason my pictures are far from good, they take 3 minutes :(
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous spot! I wish we had some place like this by us...it would be a fun fall activity too :) And you can never have enough pictures, right?! These turned out amazing!
