Casual Summer Style

This summer has been so hot, I've been reaching for shorts quite often. It was even far too hot to have the kimono on outdoors the day these photos were shot, but it works for being in the a/c and really pulls everything together. I'd been very resistant to adding a kimono to my closet, but when my mom insisted I try this one on, I just couldn't say no.

    Your kimono is beautiful and it really does work so well with your outfit! :) Even on hot days I find myself reaching for kimonos - breathable fabrics are best for that, and I think having a bit of a breeze around helps too as it catches the wind a little and is like your own personal fan, haha! :)

    That's the funny thing about kimonos, I've found. As a garment, they seem illogical - too light for when you actually need warmth, but too heavy for hot, sunny days. And yet, once you start wearing one, everything just somehow makes sense. I ordered one primarily for fashion purposes, not practicality, but it has proven to be one of the most worn items in my closet. It's perfect for evenings, and for switching from outdoors into air conditionning. Not to mention, they're just so effortlessly stylish.

    Your mom was right--that is a fabulous kimono! It really does pull the look together too, and I love the scallop detail of your cami as well. It's crazy how even on hot summer days we need layers because of indoor AC, but that's the story of my life!

    This summer has been hot in KC, too- and MUGGY. The humidity has been crazy!
