At the beginning of each month I think I'm going to be so good and watch my budget very carefully. Then three weeks in as I start putting together my budget post for next week, I realize how much blatant disregard I've had for 'the budget'. I think it's about time I got serious about creating and following an actual budget, as opposed to my present budget deemed worthy of air quotes. Especially after my trip to California (photos will finally be coming next week), my bank account is not very happy right now.
However for the moment, I have two new purchases to share - my nominal $15 top from Target (size down for this one) and the Danse Lente bucket bag. I'll admit I've been coveting this bag for months since I saw E carrying it, and used a combination of Paypal money from everything I've sold on eBay and a RewardStyle payout, plus I got it on eBay myself, so I saved $80 off the list price. And it's gorgeous, and I love carrying it, but now I really need to stop treating myself.

My wallet and my budget totally hate me right now. A few home repairs and buying post-baby new clothes and then being on reduced pay while on mat leave have all taken a toll and basically wiped out my savings - not to mention all the costly take out I eat lately because I'm too wiped from work and Eleanor to actually cook for myself. Yeah, I need to get my budget back in shape! On a happier note, I look forward to seeing all your trip pictures (I so wish I could getaway these days!).

Don't feel too bad...I've been the same way. I think the new season does something to all of us, and thinking about new trends (or just adding to what we already have). We just came back from Marshall's with a boatload of stuff....Eeek!!

That is such a fun bag! :) It is so tricky sticking to a budget, especially when you see things you've been wanting for a while! :) I've been thinking about setting up a separate account (with my bank I can have a few sub-accounts) I could put money aside for fashion purchases, but never actually have done it yet!
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend is off to a great start! :)

That bag is absolutely gorgrous and totally worth the splurge. I have to admit, my approaching to budgeting does resemble yours - just coming back from vacation, I realise just how much of an emotional shopper I truly am. I shop when I'm working and stressed, but always save money for vacations. I barely put a dent in my vacations savings because I was having fun, but I will not shy away from making one (or two) purchases this week now that I'm back. I just know it. Somehow, I have to sort out how to fix that...
