If the background of the photo didn't clue you in, this is what I wore a couple weekends ago to see "Once" at the Ivoryton Playhouse. I love seeing live performances, and there is something very special about how small and intimate the Ivoryton is. There is not a bad seat in the house, no squinting from the cheap seats, just getting to feel swept up in the performance.
I know that NYC and Broadway are a quick train ride from me, but Connecticut has quite a bit to offer, as long as you've got the mindset of the small town scene. Dinner after the show was across the street at the Ivoryton Tavern and Cafe, where the floor boards are creaky, the menu is anything but adventurous, but the food is tasty, and if you grab a seat at the bar, chances are you'll be sitting next to one of the actors.

I am loathe to admit that theatre isn't really my thing - I would choose a ballet, an opera or a symphony performance before I'd go to a play - but I love the idea of getting dressed up to go out to dinner and a show. The Ivoryton Playhouse could not be more adorable, I love that even the flowers seem to be coordinated with the setting. And the outfit you chose is just lovely, the dress fits you like a glove!

How can you not love NYC theatre, but the smaller towns can do great work too. We have a small theater just down the road, and it's always a joy!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that you get dressed up for this event....it's always fun to pull out the dresses!

I don't go to theaters. Probably because I don't have one where I stay. I really love the shoes. Your outfit is really nice dear.

Both of those places sounds really lovely and like they'd be great fun to visit - did you enjoy the show that you saw?

That is such a cute dress on you and I like the black and gold accessories with it! :) It sounds like a really nice night out! I'm really not a big city girl - I think that's why I like Brisbane, it's smaller than the other cities and you don't need to go somewhere fancy to have a good night! Our local tavern does pretty good food! :)
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a nice start to your week :)

I haven't been to the theatre in ages, but I love seeing live shows! We just got tickets to Cinderella for my daughter next month and I'm so excited to share the joys of live theatre with her! That dress is so pretty on you!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun, and I am just loving your dress!!
