I swear I've been trying so hard to not shop for myself this month, but I'll admit a couple pieces may have slipped into my cart. Mostly from Gap and their family of brands, partly because I have a credit card which gives such good rewards, and partly because time and again, Gap proves to have some of the best customer service I've ever received. I ended up needing to call them three times this month and each time they not only helped me with what I needed, but were so kind and friendly, I ended each call with a smile on my face. I can't say that is something I've experienced from too many other realtors, particularly during the busiest shopping season of the year, so if a pair of gap jeans ends up in my cart and they are under $30, I'm just going to let it slide.

I am a committed closet purger, as you know, and for the most part, I have no regrets about that. But it does mean that pulling out very old pieces is not an option for me and every once in a while, when I see someone style something they've had for a long time really well, I am sorry about that. Your outfit is a great example of that. (I am also sometimes over-hasty in getting rid of things; I still kick myself for parting with a pair of black kick flare jeans. They didn't fit well but I could have tailored them rather than getting rid of them, but I was convinced I would simply find a replacement pair with a better fit. Sadly, I never have.)

What a lovely holiday outfit Lydia! I loft the soft, but sparkly tee with those jeans. I get the kids so much from Gap and should really revisit it for myself!
ReplyDeleteThat antler tee is so unique! Also I love your denim!
ReplyDeleteI do love that antler tee! And so true, sometimes good customer service deserves a few more dollars spent, haha! We punish companies with poor service so we should celebrate those with great service!
ReplyDeleteI've almost pulled the trigger on new clothes a few times this month but each time I've felt guilty and left my cart hanging

Love that you pulled out old pieces! It shows you don't constantly need to buy new pieces. But I also slipped up this holiday season and bought a few things for myself as well. It's so hard when it's something you know you'll wear all the time and affordable.

It's always so hard not to make purchases in December for yourself! I do love this antler tee - festive without being crazy:)

I have that same rewards card, and I always find some great deals with it. Just lately I bought the fleece sweatshirt at Banana Republic, and with all the discounts, I ended up getting it free!!

That antler tee is so much fun! It's festive, but not in-your-face which I love. And your velvet blazer is a gorgeous topper for it! Love this casual, chic look!
ReplyDeleteIt's great when you find a company that has really exceptional customer service, isn't it? And it seems like it's becoming more and more of a rarity so it makes perfect sense to have some consumer loyalty to those that do offer it. Also, side note, I adore that festive t-shirt.

ReplyDeleteLove the festive pops to this outfit!
ReplyDeleteI love the subtle holiday vibes of the tee! It looks so cute with the tasseled bag too!

I am loving the gold touches with this - the fun antler tee, the tassel on your bag and the gold heels! :)
ReplyDeleteI've also bought a couple of things for myself this month, haha! I tried to be good but a few purchases snuck in while buying for other people!
Hope that you are having a nice week so far! We took the kids out to a special snow event yesterday, it was a lot of fun, but so strange with the humidity here in Brisbane, haha! :)

I love mixing old and new pieces. I think you totally nailed it with bringing those older pieces out and pairing them with a trendy piece. Definitely makes it a yes!

Great look!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Gap gave such good customer service. We had Gap and BR here but only briefly they went out of business about 3 years ago. But they were so overpriced!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who also sticks to keeping around older garments and re wearing them you know i appreciate this look and what you have done : wear old with new in a totally different way is what i aspire to.
Hope you have a great Christmas.
