I also didn't plan too many specific outfits, deciding that things would just come together naturally, however, this is one of the outfits I'd had in my mind since December. And I choose the wrong day to wear it.
On Saturday we planned to visit the Getty Museum, and with visions of grand white marble steps floating through my head, I decided to wear this outfit, and things went downhill (or uphill, whichever you prefer) from there. First it was overcast and rainy, then the sun came out, but the wind picked up; temperatures stayed stubbornly low, and we learned that when the weather is poor, the only thing to do in Los Angeles is go to the museums, so an abundance of museum goers made photos challenging.
These are not the photos I'd imagined, but they are the photos which encapsulate my chilly, wind blown, day at the Getty Museum, and perhaps now I'll feel more compelled to style this dress again sooner than later.

Ah so is the life of a fashion blogger. Some days I'm like why can't it just be warm and overcast? It would make blogging so much easier ;) I do love your cute dress and the oversized cardi is so cute with it!

At least you got to spend time at the Getty (love that place), to offset the weather not cooperating - the photos do a really good job of showing how windy it was.

This looks like paradise. I love the print of your dress
ReplyDeleteI love the maxi dress with the belted bag and warm cardigan, such a lovely outfit!
ReplyDeleteIt is a very pretty dress, even if you didn't get the photos you wanted with it! The brown belt bag works so nicely with it! :)
ReplyDeleteI've worn maxi skirts a couple of times over the past few weeks and every time I do the wind picks up and makes photos so tricky, haha! We do what we can I guess! :)
Hope that your week is going well after your not as expected day! :)

I am a religious outfit planner, so I can really relate to the way this shoot, or at least your vision for it, fell apart thanks to overplanning. I am trying my best, as the years pass, to let go of my ideas about what I want photos to be and just let them happen, but it isn't easy. That said, sometimes the photos that reflect the reality of a day turn out to be favourites, and sometimes the shoots that fall apart ultimately yield beautiful results you didn't consider - so sometimes, I admit grudgingly, having your plans fall apart can be worth it.

I always think that wind is a bloggers worst weather. Then again, they use fans on professional models, so maybe we should learn how to make it work for us. I mean, heck, look what it did for Marilyn Monroe...ha ha!!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit Lydia. The tassels on that belt bag are fabulous!!

This has happened to me many times! I know exactly what to wear, exactly where I want to wear it and then the weather (or crowds) ruin my vibe. But I gotta say, you still pulled it off. Loving the hat!

Regardless of the wind, the outfit is still nice and you still look great. The wind could do no harm to those.
