A couple years ago I made the huge mistake of going during the Cherry Blossom Festival - fun I'm sure if you like festival things, food, music, crowds - but awful if you want to take photos, as you are competing with hundreds of other people to do so. Now I stick to weekday afternoons when I can enjoy the blooms without competition.
I'll admit I'm guilty of dressing for the blossoms here - on a cool spring afternoon I'm most likely to be found in jeans, but I planned this maxi dress for the shoot. While this dress was from Old Navy last year, the style doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and the current iteration at J.Crew Factory might even be cuter with the larger scale print, but I swear I'm not going to buy it.

Believe it or not - I am still struggling to believe it myself - I woke up to snow this morning. It won't stay on the ground, but it is snowing. So your photos are giving me very serious spring envy. I had grand plans to capture one of my first spring outfits of the season over the weekend... and then wound of swapping out my light blouse of a sweater, in which I still found myself freezing because my legs were bare. At least it's spring somewhere, and I can live all of my cherry blossom fantasises through your beautiful photos.

This gingham dress is such a steal! It reminds me of one I had from Anthropologie last year.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute look for the blossoms. I avoid New Haven like the plague because of parking so no blossoms for me, haha. But we do have pretty flowering trees at the historical society near me.

ReplyDeleteI miss that area of New Haven so much - it was always so beautiful there. And well the cherry blossom background definitely creates a spring vibe for these photos, your whole outfit just screams "spring" to me too. It's perfect for this time of year.

Wow, those cherry blossoms are amazing! We have a cherry blossom festival here too and it's the same thing...if you want a photo of any kind (blog or not) without other people in it...you've come to the wrong place! Your dress is so cute and flattering. What a perfect choice for Spring/Summer!

There is a tree that blooms the most beautiful yellow flowers in front of my apartment building. I saw it bloom and said to myself that I would get pictures here. Two days later all the flowers were on the ground :( Happy you are being able to photograph these marvels of nature in that gorgeous dress. Don't even think about getting the J Crew one ;)
ReplyDeleteI think gingham was made for you! This dress is beyond beautiful on you, girly! I love the maxi style and the fun ruffles. So cute!

ReplyDeleteThat gorgeous cherry blossom place is definitely worth a photo-shoot... or a dozen! It looks like a stunning Spring picture there. You have the perfect outfit for it, too. Gorgeous gingham maxi dress. Love the sandals and boat hat, with it!
ReplyDeleteIn my latest post I talk a little bit about Michigan and its great lakes. =) Come check it out and join my Thursday Moda Linkup on Thursdays, too.
Thanks, Ada. =)

I almost went to a cherry blossom festival a few weeks ago, but I didn't make it, which is probably a good thing based on what you said. You managed to get a ton of pretty pictures with these beautiful blooms, even with the lovely tulips!

ReplyDeleteI've always been in awe of all the blossoms you find near you. But the funny thing is there are some close to us now that I actually look. Not as many or in a row like that!! But they are SO pretty.
ReplyDeleteAnd this dress is absolutely amazing, Lydia!!

I was in DC this year during the cherry blossoms but couldn't travel to see the basin! Luckily they're in the neighborhoods.
