Greige

Sometimes I wonder if I'm a failure as a fashion blogger. After all, I'm someone who purportedly has a good eye for putting pieces together and creating cohesive, yet unexpected looks. However the reality is that I tried half a dozen different tops ranging from olive green (likely would have worked with blue jeans, but not the grey) to windowpane print (I've had that top for three years and haven't worn it yet, maybe it's time to give it up) only to land on cream, the very obvious choice.

I suppose it's okay to not be as adventurous with my outfits as I once was, maybe I should take my new perspective on color and print as a sign of maturity. Though the truth is, there are some people who make bold style choices work and appear effortless. I'm just not one of them, and perhaps it's time to accept my middle ground approach and stop trying to make 'extra' work.

Where is the edge of your own outfit comfort zone?

  3. I know what you mean, sometimes I try to do something different but then it just doesn't work for me. Yet if I saw someone else in it I'd think they look amazing.
But I think this outfit is perfect. I love it with the cream.

  5. I think you are absolutely right about sticking to what works for you ... there is not enough credit given to middle ground. I too am in the same boat and while I might be more experimental in my weekend style, I too am looking to find a mid-way approach to work wear. I think your style is classic and chic.

  8. I'm definitely not much of an adventurous person when it comes to dressing - tearing myself away from near constant black is a challenge!

  10. I think this resulting outfit is lovely! :) I've tried style challenges to try different outfit combinations but sometimes I reallly hate the results, so I tend to keep it more simple and basic now. I think part of it is due to this current state of life, this year is absolutely crazy and I need easy to pull together outfits. I'm taking complete outfits I've worn before and just changing one piece, where I'd usually try change a few. But I need easy (which is why I've been wearing so many tees at the moment I think!). I wouldn't feel bad about it, things change and our style fluctuates and sometimes we just want to wear a combination that we know makes us feel good - and this looks great on you so it's not a fail at all even if you wanted to try a different colour combo at first!

Hope your week is off to a good start :) The weekday wear linkup is live on my blog, I'd love you to join! :)

  11. My sister brought up greige as a concept the other day, and my dad immediately thought it was green and beige rather than gray and beige! Made me giggle. Loving your jacket!

  14. I often think we put too much pressure on ourselves, as bloggers, to be constantly reinventing the wheel of our style. And yes, I agree that there are some people who make unexpected combinations look effortless - but I know I'm not one of them and, more importantly, that I don't really want to be. It took me a long time to get to a point where I just want to wear what makes me happy and comfortable, but for the most part I'm finally there and honestly... it's like some kind of weight lifted. I hope you'll get to that place at some point, too. But in the meantime, personally, I love this colour and texture combination :)

  19. Why mess with a classic color combination? I'm pretty safe and I'm not too daring - nothing wrong with that because that's my style too!

Hmm I hope this account stays - blogger blogs haven't been registering my comments!

  20. Don't even mention it, you're far from being a failure. Sometimes we just play it safe. I think you did a good job here and I am sure at a moment of inspiration you will find another option on how to wear it.
