The only slight problem was that it happened to be on the night of the week when my evening plans typically include a workout at the gym followed by washing my hair. In my efforts to get my hair washing down to once a week, day seven is generally spent with a messy bun, avoiding public outings if possible. (Not ideal, I know, but even with my new favorite dry shampoo, OGX Teatree Mint, not much helps by that point.)
Enter the hat. The best accessory of all, with the power to hide the oiliest of scalps, while gaining numerous compliments. It's kind of my secret weapon, and now you know.
I have another secret, and it's for anyone presently thinking "oh, but I'm not a hat person", and I want you to know that you are. It's possible you haven't found the right hat yet. Perhaps you've gone into Target and tried on hats and laughed as they flopped around on your head, confirming that you are not a hat person. However one size fits all hats are the worst. While some can be adjusted slightly with a foam strip under the sweat band, it's best to find a hat that fits properly from the start. This J.Crew Panama hat comes in three sizes, and I also love my Brixton Joanna hat, which comes in four sizes and a dozen colors. I currently have it in navy and it's all I can do to not get another color!
Are you willing to try and become a hat person this summer, or are you already as hat obsessed as I?

Hats for the win!! Love this whole outfit girl! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love that dress! And I still can't get into hats for myself, I just feel weird in them, haha! Just not "me" even though I love them on other people

I can never get hats to look good on me and I hate that because you pull them off so effortlessly. Maybe I need to get back on the proverbial horse and see again if I can find one that works for me.

Dry shampoo and hats are my dirty hair's saving grace!! Baby powder also does the trick if you're in a pinch and out of hats or dry shampoo!

The best kind of dirty hair fix!! I've never used dry shampoo before so hats are a go-to when it's close to hair washing day!

How 2 Wear It [] http://how2wearit.com
I can typically go about 3 days before washing my hair-sometimes 4. It'd be nice to be able to go longer! A hat is a great idea to prolong the washing. I need to remember to wear mine!
ReplyDeleteExactly why I LOVE hats!! I'm trying to work on wearing scarves too...

I love the hat on you and I wish my hair looked that good if I only washed it once a week, even a hat couldn't hide how bad my hair would look after 3 days, haha!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute outfit too, the hat accessorises it so well :)
Hope that your week is going well :)
Away From Blue
I wish I could get away with only washing my hair once a week! I tried and tried to make it work, but honestly, even when my hair was long, I couldn't get it down to less than twice a week. Even with hats and messy buns, the oiliness drove me bonkers. Now, I admittedly wash my hair a minimum of three times a week - sometimes even everyday. I never thought I would, but with shorter hair it really doesn't feel like as much effort. Still, I love a good hat either way, and this post reminds me that it's time for me to get out my summer hat collection!

I'm totally a hat person in the summer!
ReplyDeleteYou would never ever know that your hair was feeling funky. That hat does just the trick! You're right - I definitely don't see myself as a hat person, but I certainly need to start trying more hats that offer a range of sizes!
ReplyDeleteI love a hat- especially during the summer- for lazy hair days or almost-time-to-wash days!
ReplyDeleteYou look summer chic here!
