While I am so guilty of seeing something on another blogger and immediately clicking 'add to cart', it is often when they have a vintage piece that I find myself coveting it even more. I want to feel like my style is still personal in this ever increasingly homogenized world, even during the moments when I bend to the trends, like the presence of these new Hermés inspired sandals and olive green midi skirt, I'm styling them with a very old camel sweater I thrifted for $7, and this new-to-me vintage bag I bought at Anna Pearl's Curiosities last week.
Neither the sweater nor the bag have brands; they can't be linked to, but they can still inspire, and wasn't that what this was supposed to be about? Inspiration, instead of exact copies?

That bag is so beautiful! I love hunting for vintage items... but it can be dangerous haha! I just took some clothes to the consignment store last week and almost walked out with four things haha!

ReplyDeleteVintage pieces are always so much fun to style and wear! Love this entire look on you- so cute! xoxo sarah
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great autumn outfit, love those colours together and that bag is a stunner! :) I almost never have the ability to link to exactly what I'm wearing - I'm a sale shopper and my blog posts are delayed so it's mostly sold out by the time I post, ha!
ReplyDeleteHope that your week is going well :)

Outstanding autumn look Lydia - and yes the idea is to inspire and i have been totally smitten by the bag.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was better at vintage shopping. I'm terrible at spotting good deals, real brands, etc. And thrifting has never been my specialty. However, I love love the bag you got, and I think it's awesome that you're beginning to enjoy those vintage pieces more and more!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, sometimes I like being able to buy an exact piece but what I'm really looking for is inspiration for how to wear what I currently have in my closet (or ideas on what to look for while shopping)

This is my kind of fall #OOTD. I love the color combination!
ReplyDeleteI love being inspired by other bloggers but love putting my own spin on it. This outfit is super cute!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so so great! I love all the neutrals!
ReplyDeleteI love this skirt! I am the same way, I love looking at blogs for inspo and then replicating at thrift stores! And a good vintage trend is always great by me.

I totally agree with being inspired to buy similar items instead of buying the same exact thing as others! Love this outfit!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish I could be wearing sandals of any kind right now... But I digress. I, too, love vintage and love the experience of finding/bringing home a truly unique piece. (Although I admit that I am not amazing at the hunt, I am improving with time.) My interest in wearing vintage waxes and wanes, probably with trends, but in the past two years it has increased significantly again. That means that, like you, I am often a failure when it comes to make my posts shoppable. With vintage, you just can't do that. But honestly - I don't think I care. I'd rather see someone wearing something fabulous and different - hello, gorgeous vintage handbag - than something I can rush out to buy today. (Which is not to say I am not guilty of the add to cart thing, because I totally am.)

That sweater is just dreamy (what a wonderful find) and definitely looks like it has a story to tell and inspiration to give. And it's amazing with that skirt...

It's not surprising to see vintage items selling for more than thrice their original price in auctions, which is why a lot of women turn from shoppers to vintage collectors.

This outfit is beautiful!! I totally agree about using blogs in part for inspiration rather than needing the exact items. (Of course sometimes no substitute can be found.) I don't know that I love vintage items for myself per se but I do like keep items in my closet for years, so I'm not always hunting for new, new, new.
ReplyDeleteLove this skirt dear, so simple, yet such a beautiful classic. Perfect for the season indeed.
