Sea of Sunflowers

A familiar sight this time of year, it's hard not to be drawn to the sunflowers. A local farm plants these every year. To the best of my knowledge, they do not cut them and sell them, they don't charge for entry, they don't advertise, and there is no where to park other than the side of the road; but those who know it's there show up year after year to take photos.

After snapping away in the field, beads of sweat dripping off my face, bees buzzing may be a bit too close for comfort, it was off to a local vineyard, where the remainder of the afternoon could be spent with a bottle of wine and a cheese plate. While I'm sad to have missed so many social events this summer, at least sitting outside with a companion or two was still possible. While I may never miss the feeling of my makeup sliding off my face in the heat, I suppose it's a fair exchange for the luxury of getting to spend the day out of doors.

  4. I LOVE a good sunflower patch visit, regardless of if the photos were taken a month ago, who needs to blog in real time?!

  5. What a cute dress on you! It looks like a really pretty spot to visit too - sadly the nearest ones to us are about an hour and a half away so I've never been to them, although I know the kids would love it and we would get great photos there!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend :)

  6. Interesting that the owners of this place, just plant it for theirs and everyones enjoyment. What a treat and what a great place for pictures, even if it was hot and it got sweaty. I guess sitting down outside afterwards and having wine and cheese must have felt amazing.

  7. That's such a gorgeous place for photos - and a nice way to spend the afternoon with some friends. Being able to sit outside with a few friends has been my saving grace this summer - I'm a little sad to be thinking about losing that as colder weather sets in.

  8. I had big plans about getting out to a sunflower field this summer and then... it didn't happen. So I'm enjoying the experience through your photos, without the sweat and bees, which is really probably the most pleasant way to do it, anyway, although obviously not the most authentic. Maybe I'll get to one myself next year? Although realistically, I'd much rather be travelling the world than spending next summer at home again. Here's hoping! (Either way, I definitely need more maxi dresses in my summer wardrobe next year. I love this one on you.)
