When it comes to seasonal color pallets, there may have been a time when pastels were for the spring and jewel tones only came out once temperatures dipped, but colors are no longer treated with such simplistic biases. Instead the same colors will trend season after season, morphing from cozy knits to sundresses, and offering a closet that feels a bit more seasonless.
Therefore, when I found I'd never posted these photos after I took them in the spring, I decided to just hold on to them until denim started to creep back into regular rotation and share them for fall. I'm pretty sure your only clue these were taken six months ago is my far more pale winter complexion.
Yep, thank goodness too because I have so many dark colors that I still wear in Spring (and Summer.) I would lose so much of my wardrobe if it were dictated by pastels for Spring and darker for Fall, haha!
ReplyDeleteLove the print of the top, so pretty

Such a cute floral top - and I agree! I don't really think of things as spring or autumn - I can easily wear them in both seasons as the temperatures are similar. To be fair I kind of have warm weather/cold weather wardrobe and not broken down by season though, haha! Knits for winter, everything else for the rest of the year, haha!

I admit that if you hadn't pointed out your paler winter complexion, I probably wouldn't have even noticed these photos weren't current. I mean - I wear the same three colours all year round, so I can hardly claim to think that certain shades are only for certain seasons. Even when I did wear colour, I always thought rules like that were silly and arbitrary. I've never even really had a closet that could be swapped out based on the season so honestly, I think this outfit would work at any time of year when it was warm enough for bare ankles!

I think that shirt works all year round - I never would have guessed these photos were taken a while ago as it is a pretty perfect shirt for fall, but it also seems very appropriate for spring to me (maybe my internal compass is screwed up from so many years of wearing black all year long, ha ha).
